Shopify product reviews missing on PDP.

Several PDP widgets can look like “reviews are broken.” They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when product reviews, star ratings, or a reviews carousel / widget never appear for buyers on the product page (Judge.me, Loox, Stamped, theme app blocks, App embeds). Trust / payment / security badges on cart or checkout are shopify-trust-badges-not-showing. Product description tabs / accordion are shopify-product-tabs-not-showing. Wishlist / save for later is shopify-wishlist-button-missing. Size chart / fit guide is shopify-size-chart-not-showing. Google AggregateRating / review stars in Search (schema, not the on-page widget) is shopify-review-stars-not-in-google. An older blank-widget path that starts from Judge.me / Loox / Okendo install proofs is product-reviews-not-showing.

Open a live product URL that should show stars under the title and / or a reviews section below the fold — not only Theme editor preview. Capture four proofs before you install another reviews app:

1. Theme settings → App embeds: is Judge.me / Loox / Stamped (or your reviews app) enabled on Current? Draft-theme-only embeds never reach buyers.
2. Customize Current → product template: is there a Reviews / Star ratings / Product reviews theme app block (or section) on the published product.json — not only on a draft template?
3. App admin: does this product have at least one published / approved review or rating? Zero published reviews often renders an empty shell or nothing at all depending on “hide if empty” settings.
4. DevTools: does a reviews DOM node exist but stay invisible (height:0, display:none, opacity:0) under CSS, sticky ATC, or a consent manager holding marketing / analytics embeds?

If you only tested trust badges on cart, product tabs, a wishlist heart, or a size-chart popup, you are on the wrong playbook. If the on-page widget works but Google never shows star rich results, chase shopify-review-stars-not-in-google instead.

Most Shopify review widgets are App embeds plus optional theme app blocks from Judge.me, Loox, Stamped, Okendo, or a similar reviews app. The embed can be off on Current, enabled only on a draft theme, pointed at a product group / storefront that does not include this product, or waiting on an API / storefront domain that was never verified. Duplicate review apps often blank each other. “Hide widget if no reviews” plus a product with zero published ratings looks identical to a broken install.

Fix path: Theme settings → App embeds → enable one reviews app on Current → Save. In Judge.me / Loox / Stamped admin, open the product → confirm published / approved reviews exist (or temporarily show the empty-state widget). Disable duplicate review apps. Retest the live PDP. Generic App embeds failing across many apps is app-embed-not-loading. Theme editor publish / save failures are theme-editor-publish-failing. Review-request email never sending after purchase is a different product (email path, not the PDP widget).

Online Store 2.0 themes mount star ratings under the title and the reviews list / carousel via theme app blocks on the product template. Those blocks can be removed from product.json, present only on a draft theme, restricted to a Markets country the buyer is not in, or placed on an alternate product template this SKU does not use. A stars block without a reviews section (or the reverse) is a partial install — buyers still report “reviews missing.”

Fix path: Customize Current theme → Products → Default product (and any alternate templates your SKUs use) → Add block → Reviews / Star ratings from Judge.me / Loox / Stamped → place stars near the title and the widget below description → Save / Publish Current. Retest live. Product metafields / dynamic sources blank (not reviews) are product-metafields-not-showing. Product description tabs that never open are shopify-product-tabs-not-showing.

A widget can be in the DOM and still look “missing”: theme CSS sets .jdgm-widget / .loox-rating / .stamped-main-widget to display:none; sticky add-to-cart / chat overlays cover the stars; a cookie / privacy banner holds marketing embeds until consent; two review apps fight for the same selector. Mobile-only CSS media queries often hide the desktop-proven widget.

Fix path: DevTools → inspect the expected reviews node → remove the CSS hide or conflict. Customer Privacy / consent: allow the category your reviews app documents. Keep one reviews app. Sticky ATC covering stars is adjacent to shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-missing / sticky ATC not working — prove the bar is not covering the ratings row. Consent banners that block scripts are cookie-banner-blocking-checkout adjacent — prove consent allows the reviews embed category.

Trust / payment / security badges missing are shopify-trust-badges-not-showing. Product description tabs / accordion missing are shopify-product-tabs-not-showing. Wishlist button missing is shopify-wishlist-button-missing. Size chart / fit guide missing is shopify-size-chart-not-showing. Google AggregateRating / review stars not in Search is shopify-review-stars-not-in-google. The older Judge.me / Loox / Okendo blank-widget path is product-reviews-not-showing.

The only honest test for this page: product reviews / star ratings widget is missing on a live PDP that should show them — fixable with one published reviews App embed, product-template theme app blocks, published reviews in Judge.me / Loox / Stamped, and no CSS / consent hide — not trust badges alone, not product tabs alone, not wishlist alone, not size chart alone, not Google rich results alone. Capture apps + theme blocks + published reviews, fix the path. Anything else is a different product.
