01
Address autocomplete — not shipping rates, Markets FX, wallets, or discount codes.
Several products can look like “checkout address is broken.” They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when Shopify checkout address autocomplete is missing, stuck, or fills wrong — including Google Places / address apps and Shopify address validation. Blank or wrong shipping methods after the address is entered are checkout shipping rates wrong. Wrong currency or unit price for a country is Shopify Markets currency / price wrong. Missing Shop Pay / Apple Pay / Google Pay buttons are wallet playbooks. Promo codes that reject are discount code not applying. This page is only: address autocomplete / validation at checkout.
Seven ordinary reasons autocomplete looks broken: Places API key / billing / library not enabled, address-autocomplete app misconfigured or conflicting, Shopify address validation rejecting good addresses, country or Markets not supported by the provider, theme or checkout UI extension replacing the address block, browser / extension blocking Maps scripts, or you are debugging shipping rates / Markets FX / wallets / discount codes instead. Walk them in that order. You already pay for Shopify. You do not need another address SaaS seat to straighten suggestions.
02
Prove address field, country, and autocomplete surface.
Open live checkout with a real cart (not a theme customizer preview alone). Set country / region first, then type into Address line 1 for a well-known street in that country. Note whether a suggestion dropdown appears within a second or two, hangs forever, shows “no results,” or fills city / postal / province wrong. Capture Network for maps.googleapis.com or the autocomplete app’s domain, and screenshot the country selector plus Markets presentment if any.
Honest proof: if suggestions never appear or fields fill wrong while shipping methods still list once a manual address is entered, stay on this page. If rates are blank or absurd after a valid address, use checkout shipping rates wrong. If currency / price is wrong for that country, use Shopify Markets currency / price wrong. If wallet buttons vanish, use Shop Pay / accelerated checkout missing (or Apple Pay / Google Pay-only pages). Do not mix those proofs.
03
Google Places / address autocomplete apps and API keys.
Many stores bolt Google Places Autocomplete (or a Shopify app wrapping it) onto checkout or a custom address form. Billing not enabled on the Google Cloud project, Places API / Places API (New) not turned on, HTTP referrer or IP restrictions blocking the checkout domain, quota exceeded, or an expired key all look like “autocomplete disappeared overnight.” Two autocomplete apps fighting the same input produce empty or duplicate dropdowns.
Fix: in Google Cloud, confirm Places APIs enabled, billing active, and the key allows your checkout host (and Shopify’s checkout domains if the app injects there). In the Shopify app, re-save the API key, disable a second autocomplete app, and retest Address line 1. Shipping method math still lives on checkout shipping rates wrong.
04
Shopify address validation and autocomplete settings.
Shopify’s own checkout can offer address autocomplete / validation depending on plan, country, and checkout configuration. Merchants often install a Places app on top of native suggestions and get conflicts, or they expect native autocomplete in a country Shopify does not cover the same way. Strict validation can reject apartment formats, PO boxes, or rural routes that look “broken” when the real issue is validation rules — not missing Places.
Fix: review Settings → Checkout (and any address validation / autocomplete toggles your plan exposes). Test with native suggestions only (autocomplete app disabled). Compare a known good postal address vs one that fails validation. Do not treat a validation reject as a missing discount code or wallet bug — Shop Pay missing and Apple / Google Pay pages are unrelated.
05
Country, Markets, and locale support gaps.
Autocomplete quality varies by country. A Market that just went live may show a country whose Places coverage is thin, or whose province / postal field order does not match what your theme expects. Geolocation that forces the wrong country before the buyer types makes suggestions look random. Mixing home-Market admin tests with a foreign buyer session creates false “broken” tickets.
Fix: set country explicitly before typing. Retest the same street in the Market’s primary country vs a secondary one. If currency or unit price is wrong for that Market, leave this page and use Shopify Markets currency / price wrong. If rates vanish after address entry, use checkout shipping rates wrong— do not rewrite Places keys to “fix” zones.
06
Theme, checkout UI extensions, and custom address blocks.
Checkout UI extensions, custom liquid address forms on the cart, and theme scripts that rewrite inputs can steal focus from the autocomplete listener or replace Shopify’s address block entirely. Content Security Policy / app-block restrictions, ad blockers, and privacy extensions that block maps.googleapis.com also kill suggestions while leaving the rest of checkout fine.
Fix: disable one checkout UI extension / address app at a time. Retest in a clean browser profile with extensions off. Prefer Shopify’s checkout address surface over a theme-built address form that never had Places wired. Wallet buttons missing on that same checkout are Shop Pay / accelerated checkout missing, Apple Pay button missing, or Google Pay button missing— not this page.
07
You tested shipping rates, Markets FX, wallets, or discount codes instead.
Blank or wrong shipping methods are checkout shipping rates wrong. Wrong Markets currency or price is Shopify Markets currency / price wrong. Missing Shop Pay / accelerated checkout is Shop Pay / accelerated checkout missing. Apple Pay-only missing is Apple Pay button missing. Google Pay-only missing is Google Pay button missing. Promo codes that will not apply are discount code not applying.
The only honest test for this page: checkout address field screenshots with country set, suggestion dropdown present or absent, Places / app Network calls, Shopify validation messages, and theme / checkout extension state. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove address autocomplete vs shipping rates vs Markets FX vs wallets vs discount codes, confirm Places / app keys and billing, align Shopify validation, set country / Markets deliberately, and clear theme / checkout UI extension conflicts. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: checkout shipping rates wrong, Shopify Markets currency / price wrong, discount code not applying.
Pay for help when the work is not the Places toggle — it is connecting the stack you already have so lead capture is not dying in DMs, checkout-ready and payment exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not an address-autocomplete guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, perfect Places forever, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
