Playbook · Shopify Venmo not showing

Venmo missing on cart or checkout — US buyers never see Venmo.

Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose Venmo / PayPal Venmo checkout button is not showing on cart or checkout for eligible US buyers — Venmo not enabled under PayPal / Shopify Payments, Markets country not United States or presentment not USD, theme dynamic checkout / wallet blocks removed, app CSS hiding the Venmo row, Payment Customization hiding gateways, or you chased PayPal Express not showing, Amazon Pay not showing, BNPL not showing, or Shop Pay wallet not showing instead. DIY-first: prove Venmo → US+USD Markets → theme / hide control → retest. Distinct from PayPal Express not showing, Amazon Pay not showing, BNPL not showing, and Shop Pay wallet not showing. Soft-link payment customization not hiding when a Function hides Venmo, and Shop Pay / dynamic checkout buttons missing when every accelerated wallet row is gone, not Venmo alone. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Venmo missing — not PayPal Express, Amazon Pay, BNPL, or Shop Pay wallet.

Several “wallet / express / pay later” products can look like “Venmo is gone.” They do not share a fix. This page is only when the Venmo / PayPal Venmo button should appear on cart or checkout for eligible US buyers and does not. PayPal Express / PayPal brand button missing on cart or PDP is shopify-paypal-express-not-showing. Amazon Pay missing is shopify-amazon-pay-not-showing. Third-party BNPL (Affirm / Klarna / Afterpay / etc.) missing at checkout is shopify-bnpl-not-showing. Shop Pay accelerated wallet / button missing is shopify-shop-pay-wallet-not-showing.

Soft links when the bug is adjacent: Payment Customization Function hiding or reordering gateways is shopify-payment-customization-not-hiding. Every dynamic checkout / accelerated wallet row missing is shopify-shop-pay-button-missing. A method showed and then failed is shopify-payments-card-declined. This playbook stays on Venmo expected on cart or checkout for US+USD → button missing → buyer only sees cards / PayPal Express / Shop Pay / other wallets.

02

Prove Venmo activation, Markets US+USD, theme, and hides.

Open Settings → Payments. Confirm PayPal (Commerce Platform) and/or Shopify Payments paths that expose Venmo are Active — not Draft, Pending review, or Paused. Capture whether Venmo is toggled on for the Online Store channel. Venmo is a US product; non-US Markets or non-USD presentment usually will not show it even when PayPal Express does.

Reproduce on cart and checkout: United States market, USD presentment, eligible product mix (watch gift cards / subscriptions / digital if your Venmo path excludes them), theme dynamic checkout / wallet rows enabled. Screenshot with and without Venmo. Note whether PayPal Express, Shop Pay, Amazon Pay, or BNPL show while Venmo alone does not — that split proves you are on the wrong playbook if you only expected another wallet.

Soft-check: if the missing tile is PayPal Express / PayPal brand specifically, leave this page and use shopify-paypal-express-not-showing. If Amazon Pay alone is missing, use shopify-amazon-pay-not-showing. If Affirm / Klarna / Afterpay never mounts, use shopify-bnpl-not-showing. If Shop Pay wallet alone is missing, use shopify-shop-pay-wallet-not-showing. If a Function is hiding gateways, use shopify-payment-customization-not-hiding.

03

Repair activation, eligibility, theme buttons, and hides — then retest.

Finish PayPal / Venmo onboarding and any merchant linking the provider requires. Enable Venmo where Settings → Payments exposes it for Online Store. Force a control cart into United States + USD under Markets. Remove excluded product types for a control cart if gift cards or subscriptions block Venmo on your account.

In the theme editor, turn dynamic checkout / accelerated wallet buttons back on for cart (and product if your theme surfaces Venmo there). Check for CSS or app overlays that hide .shopify-payment-button / Venmo iframes. Temporarily disable Payment Customization Functions and checkout apps that hide or reorder payment methods. If Venmo returns with Functions off, the hide rule is the bug — fix the Function on shopify-payment-customization-not-hiding, then return here only if Venmo still never mounts when unhidden. Reconnect PayPal if Venmo status is stuck Pending.

Retest: eligible US+USD cart (and checkout) → Venmo visible beside other wallets → test click path. Soft notes: PayPal Express missing belongs on shopify-paypal-express-not-showing. Amazon Pay belongs on shopify-amazon-pay-not-showing. BNPL belongs on shopify-bnpl-not-showing. Shop Pay wallet belongs on shopify-shop-pay-wallet-not-showing.

You tested PayPal Express, Amazon Pay, BNPL, or Shop Pay wallet instead.

PayPal Express not showing is shopify-paypal-express-not-showing. Amazon Pay not showing is shopify-amazon-pay-not-showing. BNPL not showing is shopify-bnpl-not-showing. Shop Pay wallet not showing is shopify-shop-pay-wallet-not-showing. Payment customization not hiding is shopify-payment-customization-not-hiding. All dynamic checkout buttons missing is shopify-shop-pay-button-missing.

The only honest test for this page: eligible US+USD cart / checkout with Venmo enabled → Venmo button appears (or you prove why Venmo refuses to mount). Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove Active Venmo vs Pending, force US+USD Markets, restore theme dynamic checkout / wallet blocks, control-test Payment Customization, retest one eligible cart through to a visible Venmo button. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: PayPal Express, Amazon Pay, BNPL, Shop Pay wallet, payment customization.

Pay for help when the work is not the Venmo button itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so checkout / Venmo / payment-method exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever Venmo-approval guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
