Shop Pay / dynamic checkout buttons missing on PDP or cart — not ATC, sticky ATC, Apple/Google Pay-only, trust badges.

Several checkout surfaces can look like “Shop Pay is gone.” They do not share one settings panel. This page is only when the Shop Pay wallet and/or the dynamic checkout button row is absent under Add to cart on the product page or on cart. Add to cart / Buy it now greyed out is shopify-add-to-cart-button-not-working. Sticky ATC missing is shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-missing. Apple Pay-only missing is apple-pay-not-showing-shopify. Google Pay-only missing is google-pay-not-showing-shopify. Trust / payment-icon badges missing is shopify-trust-badges-not-showing. Prove payment settings vs theme buy buttons vs accelerated checkout vs Markets / region on a live storefront.

Open the live product page and cart — not only Theme editor preview. Capture five proofs before you install a wallet app:

  1. Settings → Payments: is Shopify Payments live? Is Shop Pay enabled (not just “available later”)? Third-party gateways alone do not unlock Shop Pay.
  2. Theme → product and cart templates → buy-buttons / Buy buttons block: is Show dynamic checkout buttons on for the live (Current) theme — both PDP and cart if you expect wallets in both places?
  3. Accelerated checkout: does a logged-out buyer in a supported browser/device see any wallet row at all, or only Add to cart / Checkout?
  4. Markets / country / currency: is the buyer Market COD-only, wallet-disabled, or a currency where Shop Pay / dynamic checkout is not offered?
  5. Product eligibility: subscriptions / selling plans, gift cards, some preorder or checkout-extension apps hide Shop Pay on that SKU while ordinary one-time products still show it.

If you only tested a greyed Add to cart, a missing sticky buy bar, Apple Pay alone, Google Pay alone, or a trust-badge icon row, you are on the wrong playbook.

Settings → Payments: Shopify Payments live and Shop Pay toggled on.

Shop Pay rides on Shopify Payments (or an eligible Shopify Payments setup for your country). In Admin → Settings → Payments, confirm Payments is active, Shop Pay is enabled, and you are not waiting on an incomplete Payments onboarding / identity check that leaves wallets greyed in admin. If Payments is paused, incomplete, or replaced by a third-party-only gateway, the theme cannot invent a Shop Pay button.

Retest after saving Payments settings on a logged-out storefront session (incognito). A staff account or Shop account quirk can make wallets look present in one browser and absent in another — capture both.

Theme buy-buttons block: Show dynamic checkout buttons on product and cart.

Online Store 2.0 themes expose a buy-buttons (or Buy buttons) section / block on the product template. Inside it, Show dynamic checkout buttons controls whether Shop Pay / Apple Pay / Google Pay / PayPal render under Add to cart. Cart templates have a parallel setting on many themes. Turning the toggle off on the live product template (or dropping the buy-buttons block from a custom JSON template) removes the wallet row even when Payments Shop Pay is on.

Publish the Current theme after the change. Confirm you edited the live template assigned to the SKU (not a draft theme, not a alternate template the product is not using). App embeds that replace native buy buttons can also suppress the dynamic checkout row — temporarily disable competing ATC / wallet apps on Current and retest.

Markets / buyer region / currency hiding wallets or COD-only markets.

Shop Pay and other accelerated wallets are not offered in every Market, country, or currency. Settings → Markets: check the buyer country you are testing, its currency, and whether that Market is limited to payment methods that exclude wallets (for example COD-only or a gateway set that does not include Shop Pay). A US Shop Pay-enabled store can still hide wallets for a visitor geolocated into a Market where wallets are off.

Retest with a clean session for the primary Market where you expect Shop Pay, then for a secondary Market. If Apple Pay appears but Shop Pay does not (or the reverse), follow the wallet-specific playbooks rather than flipping every Payments toggle at once.
