Playbook · Shopify SEPA not available

SEPA Direct Debit missing at checkout — EU buyers never see SEPA.

Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose SEPA Direct Debit is not available or not showing at checkout for eligible EU/EEA buyers paying in EUR — Shopify Payments not eligible for SEPA in the merchant country, SEPA not enabled under Payments, Markets country not in SEPA zone or presentment not EUR, Payment Customization hiding the method, or you chased Venmo not showing, PayPal Express not showing, Amazon Pay not showing, BNPL not showing, or Shop Pay wallet not showing instead. DIY-first: prove SEPA → EU/EUR Markets → hide control → retest. Distinct from Venmo not showing, PayPal Express not showing, Amazon Pay not showing, BNPL not showing, and Shop Pay wallet not showing. Soft-link payment customization not hiding when a Function hides SEPA, wholesale payment terms wrong when the missing option is B2B Net 30/60 (not SEPA Direct Debit), and currency converter wrong when presentment currency never reaches EUR. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

SEPA missing — not Venmo, PayPal Express, Amazon Pay, BNPL, or Shop Pay wallet.

Several “checkout payment method missing” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when SEPA Direct Debit should appear at checkout for eligible EU/EEA buyers in EUR and does not. Venmo / PayPal Venmo missing for US buyers is shopify-venmo-not-showing. PayPal Express / PayPal brand button missing is shopify-paypal-express-not-showing. Amazon Pay missing is shopify-amazon-pay-not-showing. Third-party BNPL (Affirm / Klarna / Afterpay / etc.) missing is shopify-bnpl-not-showing. Shop Pay accelerated wallet missing is shopify-shop-pay-wallet-not-showing.

Soft links when the bug is adjacent: Payment Customization Function hiding or reordering gateways is shopify-payment-customization-not-hiding. B2B wholesale Net 30/60 payment terms wrong or missing is shopify-wholesale-payment-terms-wrong — that is invoice terms for company locations, not SEPA Direct Debit mandates. Markets / presentment currency never EUR is shopify-currency-converter-wrong. This playbook stays on SEPA Direct Debit expected at checkout for EU/EUR → method missing / greyed / “not available” → buyer only sees cards / wallets / other local methods.

02

Prove Shopify Payments SEPA, EU/EUR Markets, and hides.

Open Settings → Payments. Confirm Shopify Payments is Active (not Draft, Pending review, or Paused) and that SEPA Direct Debit is listed and enabled for Online Store. SEPA availability depends on merchant country eligibility under Shopify Payments — a US-only Shopify Payments setup will not expose SEPA the way an eligible EU merchant country can. Capture screenshots of the SEPA row (enabled vs missing vs “not available”).

Reproduce at checkout: EU/EEA market in the SEPA zone, EUR presentment, eligible product mix (watch subscriptions / digital / gift cards if your SEPA path excludes them), ordinary card checkout still works. Screenshot with and without SEPA. Note whether cards, PayPal Express, Shop Pay, Amazon Pay, BNPL, or Venmo show while SEPA alone does not — that split proves you are on the wrong playbook if you only expected another wallet.

Soft-check: if the missing tile is Venmo specifically, leave this page and use shopify-venmo-not-showing. If PayPal Express alone is missing, use shopify-paypal-express-not-showing. If Amazon Pay alone is missing, use shopify-amazon-pay-not-showing. If Affirm / Klarna / Afterpay never mounts, use shopify-bnpl-not-showing. If Shop Pay wallet alone is missing, use shopify-shop-pay-wallet-not-showing. If a Function is hiding gateways, use shopify-payment-customization-not-hiding.

Repair eligibility, Markets/EUR, activation, and hides — then retest.

Finish Shopify Payments onboarding for any SEPA requirements your dashboard surfaces (business details, bank account for payouts, verification). Enable SEPA Direct Debit where Settings → Payments exposes it for Online Store. Force a control cart into an eligible EU/EEA market with EUR presentment under Markets. Remove excluded product types for a control cart if subscriptions or gift cards block SEPA on your account.

Temporarily disable Payment Customization Functions and checkout apps that hide or reorder payment methods. If SEPA returns with Functions off, the hide rule is the bug — fix the Function on shopify-payment-customization-not-hiding, then return here only if SEPA still never mounts when unhidden. If presentment never reaches EUR, repair Markets / converter on shopify-currency-converter-wrong. If the missing option is company Net terms, leave this page for shopify-wholesale-payment-terms-wrong.

Retest: eligible EU/EUR checkout → SEPA Direct Debit visible → test mandate / bank account entry path (do not capture live IBAN in screenshots you share publicly). Soft notes: Venmo belongs on shopify-venmo-not-showing. PayPal Express belongs on shopify-paypal-express-not-showing. Amazon Pay belongs on shopify-amazon-pay-not-showing. BNPL belongs on shopify-bnpl-not-showing. Shop Pay wallet belongs on shopify-shop-pay-wallet-not-showing.

You tested Venmo, PayPal Express, Amazon Pay, BNPL, Shop Pay, or Net terms instead.

Venmo not showing is shopify-venmo-not-showing. PayPal Express not showing is shopify-paypal-express-not-showing. Amazon Pay not showing is shopify-amazon-pay-not-showing. BNPL not showing is shopify-bnpl-not-showing. Shop Pay wallet not showing is shopify-shop-pay-wallet-not-showing. Payment customization not hiding is shopify-payment-customization-not-hiding. Wholesale Net payment terms wrong is shopify-wholesale-payment-terms-wrong.

The only honest test for this page: eligible EU/EEA + EUR checkout with Shopify Payments SEPA enabled → SEPA Direct Debit appears (or you prove why SEPA refuses to mount). Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove Active Shopify Payments SEPA vs not available, force EU/EUR Markets, control-test Payment Customization, retest one eligible checkout through to a visible SEPA method. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: Venmo, PayPal Express, Amazon Pay, BNPL, Shop Pay wallet, payment customization.

Pay for help when the work is not the SEPA toggle itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so checkout / SEPA / payment-method exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever SEPA-eligibility guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
