Shopify quick view not working.

Several storefront surfaces can look like “quick add is broken.” They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when a collection Quick view / Quick add / Quick shop modal is missing, dead on click, or opens with a broken variant picker / add-to-cart inside the modal. Sticky / floating add-to-cart bars on the PDP are shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-missing. Cart drawers that never refresh after add are cart-drawer-not-updating. Upsell / cross-sell popups after add to cart are shopify-upsell-popup-not-showing. Product image zoom / lightbox on the PDP is shopify-product-image-zoom-broken. The full product-page variant picker / swatches cycle is variant-picker-not-updating.

Open a live collection URL (or search results grid) — not only Theme editor preview. Capture four proofs before you install another quick-view app:

1. Product cards: is there a Quick view / Quick add / Quick shop / Preview control on hover or always visible? Missing control usually means the theme product-card setting or section is off — not a broken cart drawer.
2. Customize Current → collection / product-card / featured collection: is the quick-view / product-preview / quick-add option enabled on the published theme — not only on a draft?
3. Theme settings → App embeds: is a quick-view / quick-shop app enabled on Current? Two quick-view apps plus a native modal often blank each other — DevTools: click the control and see whether a dialog node mounts then disappears.
4. If the modal opens: do option clicks inside the modal update price, availability, and Add to cart? A stuck in-modal variant picker is still this playbook’s surface (collection modal), not the full PDP variant-picker-not-updating page — but the same theme JS / section listeners often apply.

If you only tested a sticky ATC bar on the PDP, a cart drawer refresh, an upsell popup after add, PDP image zoom, or the full product-page variant picker, you are on the wrong playbook.

Online Store 2.0 themes often gate Quick view behind a product-card setting (“Enable quick view”, “Show quick add”, “Product preview”) or a section on the collection template. That setting can be off after a theme update, present only on a draft theme, or dropped when a developer replaced the product-card snippet. Separately, a theme edit can leave the Quick view button in the Liquid markup while unbound JS never attaches click listeners — the control looks live and does nothing.

Fix path: Customize Current → collection / product grid / product card → enable Quick view / Quick add / Product preview → Save / Publish Current. If the button exists but clicks do nothing, check the theme’s collection / product-card JS for console errors after the last edit, restore the stock product-card section from the theme, and retest on a live collection. Theme editor publish / save failures are theme-editor-publish-failing. Liquid / section errors on collection templates are liquid-error-on-product-page.

Quick-view / quick-shop apps (App embed + theme app block, or a script that injects a Quick view button) can fight the theme’s native modal. The embed can be off on Current, enabled only on a draft theme, scoped to collections / Markets the buyer is not in, or set to replace the native control while the theme still renders its own. Two quick-view apps plus a filter drawer / chat widget often leave a modal node at display:none, height:0, or under a higher z-index overlay — pointer-events:none on the button is common after a CSS customization.

Fix path: Theme settings → App embeds → enable one quick-view / quick-shop app on Current (or disable the app and use native only) → Save. Customize Current → add the app’s quick-view block where the app docs say → Save. Disable the second quick-view app while testing. In DevTools, confirm the dialog mounts and is not covered by chat / cookie / filter drawers. Generic App embeds failing across many apps is app-embed-not-loading. Cookie / consent banners that block storefront scripts are cookie-banner-blocking-checkout.

A common “quick view not working” report is really: the modal opens, but size / color clicks never update price, inventory, or Add to cart — or Add to cart posts the wrong variant. That is still the collection quick-view / quick-add surface. Causes include the modal loading a partial product form without the theme’s product-info JS, combined listings / variant media mismatch inside the modal, or a quick-add app that only supports single-variant products while you sell multi-option SKUs.

Fix path: open the modal on a multi-variant product on a live collection. Confirm option clicks change the variant id in the form (or in the network cart/add payload). If the full PDP variant picker works but the modal does not, repair the modal’s product form / section JS or switch the app’s “quick add with variants” mode on. If the PDP picker itself is stuck on the product URL, use variant-picker-not-updating instead. If Add to cart from the modal never refreshes the cart drawer, chase cart-drawer-not-updating after the modal’s ATC succeeds.

Sticky add-to-cart missing is shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-missing. Cart drawer not updating is cart-drawer-not-updating. Upsell / cross-sell popup not showing is shopify-upsell-popup-not-showing. Product image zoom / lightbox broken is shopify-product-image-zoom-broken. PDP variant picker not updating is variant-picker-not-updating. Older collection-preview modal-not-opening angle is quick-view-modal-not-opening.

The only honest test for this page: on a live collection, Quick view / Quick add / Quick shop is missing, dead, or opens with a stuck in-modal variant picker / add-to-cart — fixable with the theme product-card / quick-view setting on Current, bound collection card JS, one quick-view app path or native modal (not both fighting), a working variant / ATC form inside the modal, and no CSS / consent hide — not sticky ATC alone, not cart drawer alone, not upsell popup alone, not image zoom alone, not the full PDP variant picker alone. Capture section + card JS + app + in-modal variant path, fix the path. Anything else is a different product.
