Playbook · Shopify local pickup / BOPIS option missing
Shopify local pickup missing — checkout or PDP never offers BOPIS.
Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose local pickup / buy online pickup in store (BOPIS) option is missing at checkout or on the product page — pickup location not enabled, zero sellable inventory at that location, delivery / shipping profile that never includes pickup, pickup availability hours blocking the offer, theme PDP that hides pickup messaging. DIY-first: prove locations vs inventory-at-location vs delivery profiles vs availability; repair the live path; retest on the failing SKU and postal code. Distinct from checkout shipping rates missing or wrong, multi-location inventory wrong / oversell, preorder button / continue selling UI missing, and store credit / account credit not applying. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01
Local pickup / BOPIS — not shipping rates, not multi-location inventory, not preorder, not store credit.
Several fulfillment products can look like “something is missing next to Ship.” They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when Pickup / Buy online, pick up in store never appears at checkout, or the product page never shows pickup availability (locations, inventory at location, delivery profiles, pickup availability). Ship-to-customer rates blank or wrong is checkout-shipping-rates-wrong. Multi-location inventory oversell / wrong available quantity is multi-location-inventory-wrong. Preorder / continue selling when out of stock UI missing is shopify-preorder-button-not-showing. Store credit / account credit not applying is shopify-store-credit-not-applying. Ready-for-pickup email silence after a successful pickup order is local-pickup-ready-email-not-sending — a different product. This page is only: local pickup / BOPIS option missing at checkout or on PDP.
Six ordinary reasons BOPIS fails: the location is not enabled for local pickup, the variant has zero (or unallocated) inventory at that pickup location even though a warehouse shows stock, the product sits on a shipping / delivery profile that only offers ship rates, pickup availability / expected pickup time settings block the offer for the buyer's address, the theme PDP never renders pickup messaging even when checkout could offer it, or support tested shipping rates / multi-location sync / preorder / store credit and called it “pickup.” Walk them in that order. You already pay for Shopify.
02
Prove locations vs inventory at location vs delivery profiles vs pickup availability.
On the live storefront (not theme editor preview), open the failing product and start checkout with a postal code near the intended pickup store. Capture: whether Delivery method shows Pickup / Pick up, which location names appear, Admin → Settings → Locations for “This location offers local pickup,” Inventory for that variant at each location (not just total available), which shipping / delivery profile includes the product, and pickup availability / expected pickup time. Screenshot before you change settings.
Honest proof: if Pickup appears but ship-to-customer rates are blank or wrong for a ship destination, leave for checkout-shipping-rates-wrong. If available quantity is wrong across locations or POS/online oversells, leave for multi-location-inventory-wrong. If the product is sold out and you expected a preorder button, leave for shopify-preorder-button-not-showing. If checkout totals ignore store / account credit, leave for shopify-store-credit-not-applying. Do not mix those proofs with a missing Pickup delivery method.
03
Pickup location not enabled, inactive, or not offered for that market.
Local pickup is a location setting, not a theme toggle. If the store / warehouse location that should take BOPIS orders has local pickup off, is inactive, is a fulfillment-service location that cannot offer in-person pickup, or is outside the market the buyer is checking out in, Shopify never shows Pickup — even when inventory exists somewhere else.
Fix path: Settings → Locations. Open the storefront location buyers should visit. Enable local pickup (and any required pickup instructions / expected pickup time). Confirm the location is active and not only a remote 3PL node. Save. Retest live checkout with a postal code near that address. If Pickup still never appears for a specific SKU, continue to inventory and delivery profiles — location alone is not enough when the variant is not stocked there or the profile excludes pickup.
04
Inventory at location is zero, or the delivery profile never includes pickup.
Shopify only offers pickup when the variant has sellable inventory at a pickup-enabled location. Stock sitting at a central warehouse that is not a pickup location does not unlock BOPIS. Separately, products can live on a shipping / delivery profile that only defines ship rates — no pickup method — so checkout never presents Pickup even when the location toggle looks correct.
Fix path: open the variant inventory matrix. Put available quantity at the pickup location (or transfer stock from the warehouse). Confirm Continueselling / oversell policy is not hiding a true zero at that location while another location shows stock. Settings → Shipping and delivery: open the profile that covers the product; ensure local pickup is offered for that profile / location set, not only carrier or flat ship rates. Retest the same SKU. Wrong multi-location totals across POS and online without a missing Pickup option is still multi-location-inventory-wrong. Blank ship-to-customer rates with Pickup working is checkout-shipping-rates-wrong.
05
Pickup availability / expected pickup time / PDP messaging hides BOPIS.
Even with location + inventory + profile correct, pickup availability windows, expected pickup time, or buyer distance / postal code can hide the option for some checkouts while others still see it. Theme product templates can also omit pickup availability messaging or hardcode “Shipping only,” so the PDP looks broken while checkout actually offers Pickup — or the reverse when a pickup app block conflicts with native BOPIS.
Fix path: review local pickup availability / expected pickup time on the location. Retest with a postal code inside the area you intend to serve. On the live theme product template, confirm any pickup availability / store pickup section or app block is present if you advertise BOPIS on PDP; remove conflicting “shipping only” copy. If the order already placed as local pickup but Ready for pickup mail never fires, that is local-pickup-ready-email-not-sending— not a missing option. POS inventory that never syncs online is shopify-pos-inventory-not-syncing.
06
You tested shipping rates, multi-location inventory, preorder, or store credit instead.
Checkout shipping rates missing or wrong is checkout-shipping-rates-wrong. Multi-location inventory wrong / oversell is multi-location-inventory-wrong. Preorder / continue selling UI missing is shopify-preorder-button-not-showing. Store credit / account credit not applying is shopify-store-credit-not-applying. Local pickup ready email silence is local-pickup-ready-email-not-sending.
The only honest test for this page: Pickup / BOPIS is missing at checkout or on the PDP — fixable with pickup-enabled locations, sellable inventory at those locations, a delivery profile that includes pickup, and availability / theme messaging that does not hide the option — not blank ship rates alone, not multi-location sync alone, not a missing preorder button alone, not missing store credit alone. Capture location + inventory-at-location + profile + availability, fix the path. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove locations vs inventory-at-location vs delivery profiles vs availability, enable pickup on the right store, stock that location, put the product on a profile that offers pickup, fix PDP messaging, and stop confusing shipping rates / multi-location / preorder / store credit with BOPIS. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Pay for help when the work is not the pickup row — it is connecting the stack you already have so lead capture is not dying in DMs, storefront and checkout-ready exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a BOPIS-app rebuild, not an earnings number.
Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or pickup guarantee.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered pickup revenue, a forever BOPIS-uptime guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
