Shopify Inbox Instagram / Meta messaging channel not connecting — DMs not syncing.
Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose Shopify Inbox Instagram / Meta messaging channel will not connect, shows Needs attention, or Instagram DMs never appear in Inbox — usually Instagram still Personal (not Professional), Meta Business Portfolio / Facebook Page not linked, messaging permissions revoked, wrong Business Admin reconnecting, or a channel that looks Connected while Meta never delivers conversations. DIY-first: prove Professional + Business link, reconnect Meta messaging, send a real non-admin DM, prove it in Inbox. Distinct from Shopify Inbox auto-reply not working, Shopify Inbox flooded, Instagram DM leads, Gorgias Rules not firing, and new customer accounts login broken. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Inbox Instagram / Meta messaging not connecting — not auto-reply, flooded, DM leads, Gorgias, new accounts.
Several products can look like “Instagram chat is broken.” They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when the Instagram / Meta messaging channel will not connect to Shopify Inbox, or DMs never sync into Inbox conversations. Channel is Connected and messages arrive but the automated response never sends is shopify-inbox-auto-reply-not-working. Channel works and volume is drowning the team is shopify-inbox-flooded. Capturing Instagram DMs as sales leads / ops exceptions (not the Meta connect toggle) is instagram-dm-leads. Gorgias Rules on Shopify-linked tickets is gorgias-rules-not-firing. New customer accounts login / identity provider is new-customer-accounts-login-broken. This page is only: Shopify Inbox Instagram / Meta messaging channel not connecting or DMs not syncing.
Six ordinary reasons the channel stays dead: Instagram still Personal (not Professional Business/Creator), Meta Business Portfolio / Facebook Page not linked to that Instagram account, Messaging / Instagram Direct permissions revoked or never granted on reconnect, the staffer reconnecting is not a Meta Business Admin on the right portfolio, Inbox shows Connected while Meta Business Suite still owns the thread and never forwards, or you are debugging auto-reply / flood / lead capture / Gorgias / customer accounts instead. Walk them in that order. You already pay for Shopify Inbox and Meta. You do not need another Instagram helpdesk SaaS to flip Professional and reconnect messaging.
02
Prove Meta Business, Instagram Professional, and Inbox channel state.
On Instagram, open Settings → Account type / Professional and confirm the account is Business or Creator, not Personal. In Meta Business Suite / Business settings, confirm that Instagram account is linked to the Facebook Page / Business Portfolio your store uses. In Shopify admin → Inbox (or Shopify Inbox channels / Settings), capture whether Instagram shows Connect, Needs attention, Disconnected, or Connected.
Honest proof: screenshot Instagram Professional status, Meta Business Instagram + Page link, and the Inbox channel row. If Instagram shows Connected and brand-new DMs already appear in Inbox but only the automated reply is silent, switch to Inbox auto-reply not working instead of tearing down Meta OAuth again.
03
Reconnect Meta messaging permissions and prove a DM syncs into Inbox.
If Inbox shows Connect / Needs attention / Disconnected: disconnect Instagram, then reconnect while signed into a Meta user who is Business Admin on the correct portfolio. Grant every Messaging / Instagram Direct / manage messages permission Meta asks for — skipping one permission is the usual “Connected but empty” failure. Confirm the Page linked to Instagram is the same Page Shopify Inbox expects.
If Meta Business Suite or Instagram native still owns the conversation and Shopify never receives it: check Meta inbox assignment / connected partners, remove a conflicting third-party messaging app that exclusive-locks DMs, and re-save the Shopify Inbox Instagram channel. A www / SSL storefront bug is a different product — leave custom-domain-ssl-not-connecting alone unless the whole admin domain is broken. Gorgias Instagram channel Rules stay on gorgias-rules-not-firing.
04
Prove DMs sync after a real non-admin Instagram message.
From a phone / account that is not a Page admin or Business Admin, send a fresh Instagram DM to the store account. Open Shopify Inbox within a few minutes and confirm the conversation appears under Instagram / Meta messaging — not only in Meta Business Suite. Reply once from Inbox and confirm the buyer sees it in Instagram.
Honest proof: screenshots of Inbox channel Connected, the inbound DM in Shopify Inbox, and the Instagram thread showing your Inbox reply. Lead-capture / ops routing of Instagram DMs after the channel works is instagram-dm-leads. Flood volume after sync works is shopify-inbox-flooded.
05
You tested Inbox auto-reply, flooded, Instagram DM leads, Gorgias Rules, or new accounts instead.
Auto-reply silence with a working channel is shopify-inbox-auto-reply-not-working. Inbox flood volume is shopify-inbox-flooded. Instagram DM lead capture / ops exceptions is instagram-dm-leads. Gorgias Rules not firing is gorgias-rules-not-firing. New customer accounts login / identity provider is new-customer-accounts-login-broken. None of those replace proving Professional Instagram, Meta Business link, Messaging permissions, and a non-admin DM landing in Shopify Inbox.
Finish the connect + sync proofs first. Only then open the related playbook that matches the remaining symptom.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove Instagram Professional + Meta Business / Page link, reconnect Shopify Inbox Meta messaging with full permissions as Business Admin, send a real non-admin DM, prove it in Inbox and reply from Inbox, and stop confusing auto-reply / flood / DM leads / Gorgias / new customer accounts with this connect path. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Pay for help when the work is not the Meta connect checklist — it is connecting the stack you already have so lead capture is not dying in DMs, checkout and ops exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not an Instagram agency retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever Instagram inbox SLA, a custom Meta messaging rebuild retainer, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
