Playbook · Shopify sticky header not sticking

The header mounts. It will not stick.

Written for a Shopify owner whose sticky header is not sticking — sticky / fixed header chrome is visible at the top, but it scrolls away on scroll or never pins — or you chased a failing sticky add-to-cart bar, a stuck mobile nav drawer, or a missing announcement bar instead. DIY-first: prove overflow/transform vs sticky toggle vs z-index vs JS class → repair → retest. Distinct from sticky add to cart failing and mobile nav stuck. Soft-link announcement bar not showing when the promo bar is missing. Soft-link megamenu not opening when the desktop dropdown is the leftover gap. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01

Sticky header not sticking — not sticky ATC, not mobile nav stuck.

Several “header / sticky / nav” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when a sticky / fixed header mounts but scrolls away or never sticks. PDP sticky buy bar mounts but /cart/add fails is shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-failing. Mobile drawer open but frozen is shopify-mobile-nav-stuck.

Soft-check shopify-announcement-bar-not-showing when the promo bar is missing or stuck closed, and soft-link shopify-megamenu-not-opening when the desktop dropdown will not open — not when the sticky header itself simply will not pin on scroll.

02

Prove overflow/transform vs sticky toggle vs z-index vs JS class.

On Current theme (not a draft), open the homepage or a long collection / PDP in incognito. Confirm header chrome mounts at top. Scroll — if the header leaves with the page, soft-check parent overflow:hidden / overflow:auto and transform / filter / will-change ancestors that kill position:sticky. Soft-check theme sticky-header / enable-sticky-header toggle on Current. Soft-check z-index buried under hero / app overlays. Soft-check JS sticky / is-sticky / header--sticky class never applied (theme JS error). Soft-check announcement-bar height offset / CSS custom property wrong. Soft-check App embeds rewriting header. Soft-check duplicate header / section-group fighting.

Capture: page URL + header section name, scroll screenshot on desktop and phone showing header gone, computed position/overflow/transform on ancestors, theme sticky-header toggle screenshot, z-index stack, Console JS errors, announcement-bar height, App embeds toggle state, and duplicate header sections on Current.

03

Repair overflow / sticky toggle / z-index / JS; retest sticky header.

Remove or neutralize overflow/transform ancestors on the sticky containing block. Enable sticky-header on Current theme settings and publish. Raise header z-index above hero / overlays. Fix theme JS errors so sticky class applies on scroll. Soft-check announcement-bar height offset. Disable conflicting header App embeds one at a time. Soft-check duplicate header sections. Publish Current, hard-refresh desktop and phone.

Honest retest: header remains pinned while scrolling — not scrolled away with the page, not only one viewport broken. Soft-link shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-failing when the PDP sticky buy bar mounts but /cart/add fails. Soft-link shopify-mobile-nav-stuck when the drawer is frozen open. Soft-link shopify-announcement-bar-not-showing when the promo bar is missing.

04

You tested sticky ATC, mobile nav stuck, or announcement bar instead.

PDP sticky buy bar mounts but /cart/add fails is shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-failing. Mobile drawer open but frozen is shopify-mobile-nav-stuck. Promo / announcement bar missing or stuck closed is shopify-announcement-bar-not-showing. Desktop megamenu will not open is shopify-megamenu-not-opening.

The only honest test for this page: a sticky / fixed header mounts, but scrolls away or never sticks — while sticky ATC / mobile nav / announcement bar paths may still work.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove overflow/transform vs sticky toggle vs z-index vs JS class, soft-check apps, repair, retest. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: sticky add to cart failing, mobile nav stuck, announcement bar not showing.

Pay for help when the work is not the sticky header itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so storefront / theme / sticky-header exception alerts land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever sticky header guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
