Playbook · Shopify mobile nav stuck

Mobile drawer opens — then freezes.

Written for a Shopify owner whose mobile nav is stuck — hamburger drawer open but frozen, Close / X dead, overlay ignored, or body scroll lock never releases — or you chased a drawer that never opens or a desktop mega menu instead. DIY-first: prove close path + scroll-lock → repair → retest. Distinct from mobile menu not opening (drawer never opens). Soft-link megamenu not opening when the desktop header mega menu is the leftover gap. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01

Mobile nav stuck — not mobile menu not opening, not megamenu not opening.

Several “mobile menu” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when the mobile hamburger / drawer opens (or half-opens) and then freezes — Close does nothing, overlay click ignored, body scroll stays locked, focus trap stuck inside a dead panel. Drawer never opens is shopify-mobile-menu-not-opening.

Soft-check shopify-megamenu-not-opening when the desktop header mega menu / dropdown is the leftover gap (not a stuck mobile drawer), and soft-link megamenu-not-opening for the older alias page.

02

Prove drawer close JS vs body scroll-lock vs overlay vs focus trap vs app conflict.

Open the storefront at phone width. Soft-check theme header / drawer section: does Close / X toggle the open class and aria-expanded? Soft-check body / html classes — overflow:hidden, position:fixed, or theme scroll-lock utilities that never clear on close. Soft-check overlay / backdrop z-index so a cookie, chat, or megamenu app sits above the close hit target. Soft-check focus trap / a11y scripts that keep focus inside a frozen panel. Soft-check Current theme vs draft so you are not debugging the wrong publish.

Capture: phone screenshot of frozen drawer, console errors on Close click, body class list before/after close attempt, App embeds on Current, and which theme section owns the drawer.

03

Repair close path and scroll-lock release; retest open → close → scroll.

Rebind or restore the drawer close control so it removes the open class, sets aria-expanded=false, and clears body scroll-lock classes. Restore overlay click-to-close and Escape if the theme supports it. Disable conflicting app embeds one at a time (cookie banner, chat, third-party megamenu). Publish Current, hard-refresh on a real phone.

Honest retest: open hamburger → drawer usable → Close / overlay closes → page scrolls again on mobile and desktop narrow. Soft-link shopify-mobile-menu-not-opening when the drawer never opens at all. Soft-link shopify-megamenu-not-opening when only the desktop mega menu fails.

04

You tested mobile menu not opening or megamenu not opening instead.

Hamburger / drawer never opens (or never closes from a never- opened state) is shopify-mobile-menu-not-opening. Desktop header mega menu / dropdown not opening is shopify-megamenu-not-opening.

The only honest test for this page: mobile drawer is open (or half-open) and stuck — frozen panel, dead Close, or scroll lock that never releases. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove drawer close JS vs scroll-lock vs overlay vs focus trap vs app conflict, repair, retest. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: mobile menu not opening, megamenu not opening.

Pay for help when the work is not the stuck drawer itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so storefront / header / drawer exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever mobile-nav guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
