Playbook · Shopify sticky add to cart failing
Sticky bar shows. Click fires. Cart add fails.
Written for a Shopify owner whose sticky / floating add to cart bar mounts on the PDP but the tap posts /cart/add and still does not land a line — stale sticky form variant id after option change, sold-out race, 422 / JSON error from /cart/add.js, sticky bar not reading the live product-form — or you chased a missing bar, a dead click, Buy Button, quick-add, Hydrogen cart, or upsell popup instead. DIY-first: prove Network vs response vs sticky form id → sync sticky to live variant → retest. Distinct from sticky ATC missing and sticky ATC not working. Soft-link cart drawer not updating when add succeeds but the drawer stays stale. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Sticky ATC failing — not missing bar, not dead click, not buy-button / quick-add / Hydrogen / upsell.
Several “add to cart broken on mobile” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when the sticky / floating bar is visible, the click fires a cart request, and the add still fails — stale sticky form id, sold-out race, /cart/add.js 422 / JSON error, sticky bar ignoring the live product-form. Bar never mounts is shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-missing. Missing or dead click with no request is sticky-add-to-cart-not-working.
Soft-check shopify-add-to-cart-button-not-working when the main PDP ATC is greyed / dead, shopify-buy-button-not-loading for external Buy Button embeds, shopify-quick-add-failing for collection quick-add, shopify-hydrogen-cart-broken for headless Hydrogen, and shopify-upsell-popup-not-showing when the leftover gap is a post-add offer.
02
Prove Network /cart/add vs response vs sticky form id.
Open a live PDP on a real phone (or DevTools mobile width). Soft-check the sticky / floating bar mounts after scroll. Soft-check Console is clean before click. Click sticky Add to cart with Network open. Soft-check a POST to /cart/add.js or /cart/add (or Sections Rendering cart). Soft-check status and JSON body (status, description, message). Soft-check Form Data / payload id matches the selected variant — compare to the live product-form [name="id"] or ?variant=.
If no request leaves on click, switch to sticky-add-to-cart-not-working. If the bar is absent from the DOM, switch to shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-missing.
03
Sync sticky form to live variant, clear sold-out / app fights; retest.
Rebind the sticky bar to listen for variantchange / Section Rendering so its hidden id input tracks the live product-form. Fix themes that hardcode the first variant id into the sticky form. Soft-check inventory / continue-selling when /cart/add returns sold out. Disable fighting sticky-ATC / cart-drawer / upsell apps until one clean add path remains. Publish Current theme, hard-refresh the PDP, change variant, then sticky-add.
Honest retest: sticky bar still mounts; Network shows 200; cart gains the correct variant line; console stays clean. Soft-link cart-drawer-not-updating when add succeeds but the drawer UI stays stale. Soft-link shopify-add-to-cart-button-not-working when the main PDP ATC is also dead. Soft-link shopify-quick-add-failing when collection cards are the leftover gap.

You tested missing bar, dead click, buy-button, quick-add, Hydrogen, or upsell instead.
Bar never mounts is shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-missing. Missing or dead click with no request is sticky-add-to-cart-not-working. External Buy Button is shopify-buy-button-not-loading. Collection quick-add is shopify-quick-add-failing. Headless Hydrogen is shopify-hydrogen-cart-broken. Post-add upsell popup is shopify-upsell-popup-not-showing.
The only honest test for this page: sticky bar is visible, a cart request leaves on click, and the add still fails (wrong id, sold-out, 422 / JSON error). Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove Network vs response vs sticky form id, sync sticky to live variant, clear sold-out / app fights, retest. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: sticky ATC missing, sticky ATC not working, cart drawer not updating.
Pay for help when the work is not the sticky bar itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so storefront / cart / sticky-ATC exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever sticky-ATC guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
