Playbook · Shopify quantity breaks / volume discount / Buy X Get Y not showing on PDP or cart

Shopify quantity breaks not showing on the product page or cart.

Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose quantity break tiers, volume discount table, or Buy X Get Y offer never appears on the product page or cart — Shopify Functions / automatic discounts off or mismatched, quantity-break apps or theme blocks unpublished on Current, or discount settings that never match the product / quantity / customer. DIY-first: prove Functions vs apps vs theme blocks vs discount settings; repair the live product and cart templates; retest on the live storefront. Distinct from selling plans / subscriptions not showing on PDP, free shipping bar missing, tip at checkout not showing, store credit not applying, discount code not applying, and Shopify Functions discount not applying at checkout. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Quantity breaks missing — not selling plans, free shipping bar, tip, store credit, or codes not applying.

Several offer / pricing problems can look alike. They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when quantity break tiers, a volume discount table, or a Buy X Get Y offer never renders on the PDP or cart (Functions / automatic discounts, quantity-break apps, theme blocks, discount settings). Selling plans / subscriptions missing is shopify-selling-plan-not-showing. Free shipping progress bar missing is shopify-free-shipping-bar-missing. Tip at checkout missing is shopify-tip-at-checkout-not-showing. Store credit not applying is shopify-store-credit-not-applying. A discount code that fails at checkout is discount-code-not-applying. A Function that discounts the line total but never shows a tier widget is still this playbook for the UI missing case; pure checkout math failures without a tier UI goal are shopify-functions-discount-not-applying.

If the tier labels / volume table / Buy X Get Y badge should appear on PDP or cart and they do not, you are on the right page. If a typed code rejects at checkout, leave this playbook.

Prove Functions vs apps vs theme blocks vs discount settings on the live storefront.

Open a live PDP and cart in a logged-out window (not only Theme editor preview). Capture four facts before you change anything:

  1. On the PDP at quantity 1, then at a break quantity (e.g. 3 / 5 / 10): do tier labels, a volume table, or Buy X Get Y copy appear? In cart at those quantities, same result?
  2. Discounts → automatic / Buy X Get Y / Function discounts: is the intended discount Active, not scheduled-only, and scoped to this product / collection / customer / market? Does the minimum quantity match what you tested?
  3. Customize → product template / cart: is a Quantity breaks / Volume discount / Offer table block present and visible on Current (not a draft theme)? Theme settings → App embeds: is the quantity-break app enabled?
  4. Console / network: do app scripts inject? Any Liquid / section errors? Are two tier widgets fighting (app + native Function UI both half-configured)?

Write those four answers down. Guessing “the theme is broken” without checking discount Active status and Current app embeds wastes hours.

03

Shopify Functions / automatic discounts / Buy X Get Y rules off, wrong product, or not published.

Native volume and Buy X Get Y offers live under Discounts. Common misses:

  • Discount is Draft, expired, or scheduled for a future start — set Active and confirm start / end.
  • Product / collection / variant exclusions leave this SKU out; customer segment or market does not match the logged-out test.
  • Minimum quantity / Buy X count is higher than what you added to cart — raise quantity to the first break and retest.
  • Combination rules block stacking with another automatic discount already on the cart — test with an empty cart.
  • Function app not installed / not published to the store, or Functions discount exists but storefront never surfaces tier copy (UI still needs a theme block or app for the table).

Fix Active status and product / quantity scope first. Then confirm whether your theme is supposed to render native offer messaging or only an app widget.

04

Quantity-break apps, theme blocks, or app embeds off / draft-only / fighting on Current.

Most “volume table on PDP” UIs come from an app or a theme block — not from Discounts alone. On Current:

  • Theme settings → App embeds: enable exactly one intended quantity-break / volume app; disable duplicates.
  • Product template: add / enable the Quantity breaks / Volume discount / Offer table block on the template this product uses (Default product vs alternate). Save.
  • Cart drawer / cart page: enable the cart-facing tier block if your app splits PDP vs cart widgets.
  • App admin: product / collection selection includes this SKU; display style set to show on storefront; preview matches live.
  • Publish to Current — draft theme previews that look fine never ship to buyers.

If scripts never inject, fix app embeds first. If the block is on the wrong template, move it. Retest logged-out after save.

05

You tested selling plans, free shipping bar, tip, store credit, or discount codes instead.

Do not “fix quantity breaks” by editing those surfaces:

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if Active discount scope + Current app embed + the right product/cart blocks get your tier UI and discounted line totals working on a logged-out PDP and cart. Pay $997 when you want Latch AI Ops to install lead capture + ops alerts + a checkout-ready workflow on the stack you already pay for in 72 hours — not a rebuild of your quantity-break app, and not an earnings claim.

Nico ships the install. You keep your theme, your Functions, and your apps. No invented case studies.
