01
Payout delayed / on hold — not card declined, not fraud analysis, not Shop Pay, not Collabs.
Several products can look like “Shopify has my money.” They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when Shopify Payments payouts to your bank are delayed, missing, failed, or on hold. Cards dying at checkout is Shopify Payments card declined. Good orders canceled by fraud scoring is fraud analysis false positives. The Shop Pay / accelerated button missing is Shop Pay not showing. Creator / affiliate commission not attributing is Collabs commission not tracking. This page is only: merchant payout delayed / missing / on hold.
Seven ordinary reasons money stays in Shopify: bank account not verified or details mismatch, payout schedule / weekend / bank cutoff timing, a reserve holding a percentage, open disputes or chargebacks, account review / risk hold, wrong bank selected after a change, or you are debugging checkout declines / fraud / wallets / Collabs instead of the Payouts screen. Walk them in that order. You already pay for Shopify Payments. You do not need another finance SaaS seat to read the payout status.
02
Prove payout status, schedule, and bank on file.
Open Settings → Payments → Shopify Payments → Payouts (or the Balance / Payouts view in admin). Note last successful deposit, next scheduled payout, current status (scheduled, in transit, paid, failed, on hold), available vs reserved balance, and the bank account name / last four. Screenshot the payout history for the last two cycles.
Honest proof: pick the last expected deposit date. Confirm whether Shopify shows “paid” while the bank still shows nothing (bank lag / routing issue) vs Shopify showing “on hold” or “failed” (Shopify-side). Note currency and whether Markets / multi-currency payouts use a different destination. If Collabs creator payouts are what is missing, that is Collabs commission not tracking, not this merchant bank deposit.
03
Bank account verification and mismatches.
Shopify Payments deposits only to a verified bank account. New accounts, routing / account number typos, name mismatches vs legal business name, closed accounts, and unfinished microdeposit / instant-verify flows leave payouts pending or failed. Changing banks mid-cycle can strand a payout until the new account verifies.
Fix: in Payments → Payout account, confirm verification status is complete. Re-enter routing / account carefully; match the legal name on the Shopify Payments / tax profile. Finish any pending microdeposit confirmations. After a bank change, wait for the next scheduled cycle once verified — do not assume same-day. Card declines at checkout are a different panel — see card declined.
04
Payout schedule, weekends, and bank cutoffs.
Shopify Payments schedules (daily, weekly, monthly depending on country / history) are not same-day ACH. Weekends and bank holidays slide settlement. “In transit” can take 1–3 business days after Shopify marks paid. A store that just flipped from weekly to daily still waits for the first cycle after the change.
Fix: read the schedule on the Payouts page, not a spreadsheet hope. Count business days from “paid” before calling the bank. Confirm your bank accepts ACH / local rails Shopify uses for your country. Instant-payout options (where offered) are a separate product with their own fees and eligibility — not a substitute for fixing a hold.
05
Reserves holding a percentage of sales.
Shopify can place a rolling reserve (a percentage of each payout held for a window) when risk, chargeback rate, or category warrants it. Available balance looks lower than “sales this week” even when status is healthy. New stores and sudden volume spikes often see temporary reserves.
Fix: on Balance / Payouts, separate available vs reserved. Read any reserve notice in Payments settings or email from Shopify. Lowering chargebacks and fulfilling on time are the long-term levers — not toggling a theme. Aggressive fraud auto-cancels that create refunds / disputes are fraud analysis false positives, a different playbook from the reserve math itself.
06
Disputes, chargebacks, and risk holds.
Open chargebacks / disputes can reduce available balance and trigger payout holds while Shopify or the network investigates. A spike in “friendly fraud” after a campaign looks like “my payout vanished” when funds are reserved against open cases. Ignoring dispute deadlines worsens holds.
Fix: open Orders / Payments → Disputes. Respond with evidence on time. Track how much balance is tied to open disputes vs a hard account hold. Checkout-time declines (issuer / AVS / 3DS) are not disputes — that path is card declined. Wallet buttons missing at checkout are Shop Pay not showing.
07
Account review and Shopify Payments status.
Shopify Payments can place an account under review for identity, tax / business info, prohibited goods, or risk signals. During review, payouts pause even when sales continue (or checkout is limited). Incomplete business / tax details and mismatched legal entity names are common triggers.
Fix: check Payments home for banners / email from Shopify Payments. Complete any requested documents. Confirm legal business name, tax ID, and directors match bank KYC. Do not assume a theme or app bug — if the banner says review, that is the product. Affiliate / Collabs creator balances are still Collabs commission not tracking.
08
You tested card declined, fraud analysis, Shop Pay, or Collabs instead.
High checkout decline rates are Shopify Payments card declined. Fraud analysis canceling good orders is fraud analysis false positives. Shop Pay / accelerated checkout missing is Shop Pay not showing. Creator commission / affiliate payout attribution is Collabs commission not tracking.
The only honest test for this page: Payouts status and history, bank verification, schedule / transit days, reserved vs available balance, open disputes, and account-review banners. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove payouts, finish bank verify, respect schedule / transit days, read reserves, clear disputes, and resolve account review. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: card declined, fraud analysis false positives, Shop Pay not showing, Collabs commission not tracking.
Pay for help when the work is not the Payouts toggle — it is connecting the stack you already have so lead capture is not dying in DMs, payout and payment exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a payout-guarantee retainer, not a chargeback guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: faster Shopify payouts forever, recovered reserves, zero disputes, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
