Playbook · Shopify Collabs / affiliate commission not tracking
Shopify Collabs affiliate commission not tracking or payout missing.
Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose Shopify Collabs / affiliate commission never appears on an order, tracks to the wrong creator, or payout / balance stays empty after a paid sale — usually Collabs (or the affiliate app) disconnected or reinstalled, creator not Approved / Active, discount code or referral / UTM link not owned by that affiliate, commission rules excluding the product / Market / channel, order still unpaid / refunded / inside a hold window, or confusing this with referral-invite email / Meta CAPI / GA4 purchase / discount codes not applying. DIY-first: prove app connection + affiliate status, prove code / UTM ownership, prove order attribution and payout eligibility. Distinct from referral invite email not sending, Meta CAPI events missing, GA4 purchase event missing, and discount code not applying. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01
Shopify Collabs commission not tracking — not referral invite, Meta CAPI, GA4 purchase, discount codes.
Several products can look like “affiliate tracking is broken.” They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when Shopify Collabs / affiliate commission fails to attribute an order to a creator or payout / balance stays missing after a paid sale. A referral invite email that never leaves the outbox is referral-invite-email-not-sending. Meta / Facebook CAPI Purchase silence is meta-capi-events-missing. GA4 purchase missing from checkout is ga4-purchase-event-missing. A discount that will not apply at checkout is discount-code-not-applying. This page is only: Collabs / affiliate commission not tracking or payout missing.
Six ordinary reasons commission stays dead: Collabs (or the affiliate app) was uninstalled / reconnected and lost code ownership, the creator is Pending / Rejected / paused, the discount code or referral / UTM link on the order is not the affiliate’s assigned code, commission rules exclude that product / collection / Market / sales channel, the order is unpaid, refunded, partially returned, or still inside a payout hold window, or you are debugging referral-invite mail / Meta CAPI / GA4 purchase / discount application instead. Walk them in that order. You already pay for Shopify Collabs or an affiliate app. You do not need another attribution SaaS to prove one order commissions to one creator.
02
Prove Collabs app connection, affiliate status, and discount code / UTM ownership.
Open Shopify admin → Apps → Shopify Collabs (or your affiliate app). Confirm it is still installed and connected to the live store — not a draft shop, not a second staff store. Open the creator / affiliate: status must be Approved / Active, not Pending, Rejected, or paused. Copy the discount code and referral / tracking link Collabs shows for that creator. If you reinstalled Collabs or bulk-imported creators, codes can orphan — regenerate or re-assign before blaming the order.
Honest proof: screenshot app installed + connected, creator Approved / Active, and the exact discount code / referral URL / UTM parameters assigned to that affiliate. If the code on the order is a storewide promo you created outside Collabs, stop treating this as a Collabs bug — that order was never theirs. Discount application failures stay on discount-code-not-applying.
03
Prove order attribution, commission rules, and payout eligibility.
Open the paid order. Prove which attribution path fired: Collabs discount code on the order, referral cookie / tracked link, or UTM that Collabs maps to the creator. Then open commission settings: percent / flat, included products / collections, excluded SKUs, Market / country, online vs POS / draft order channels, new-customer-only rules, and any minimum order. Finally open Collabs payouts / balance for that affiliate — prove the sale is eligible (paid, not refunded, past hold / return window) and that payout method / threshold is met.
Honest proof: order shows the affiliate’s code or tracked link, commission rule would include that line item and Market, Collabs order / commission row exists (or clearly explains exclusion), and payout status is Pending / Available / Paid — not “never created.” Marketing pixels that miss Purchase are not this page: meta-capi-events-missing and ga4-purchase-event-missing. Referral invite mail that never sends stays on referral-invite-email-not-sending.
04
You tested referral-invite email, Meta CAPI, GA4 purchase, or discount codes instead.
Referral invite / loyalty invite email not sending is referral-invite-email-not-sending. Meta CAPI / Conversions API Purchase missing is meta-capi-events-missing. GA4 purchase event missing from Shopify checkout is ga4-purchase-event-missing. Discount code not applying at checkout is discount-code-not-applying. None of those replace proving Collabs app connection, creator Approved / Active, affiliate-owned discount code / UTM / referral link on the order, commission rules that include the product and Market, and payout eligibility past holds / refunds.
Finish the Shopify Collabs / affiliate commission proofs first. Only then open the related playbook that matches the remaining symptom.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove Collabs / affiliate app connected, prove creator Approved / Active, prove the order used that affiliate’s discount code or referral / UTM link, prove commission rules include the product / Market / channel, prove order paid and past hold / refund windows, prove payout status, and stop confusing referral-invite email / Meta CAPI / GA4 purchase / discount application with this Collabs path. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Pay for help when the work is not the Collabs checklist — it is connecting the stack you already have so lead capture is not dying in a tab, checkout and ops exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not an affiliate-management retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever Collabs / affiliate SLA, a custom affiliate program build, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
