Playbook · Shopify free shipping bar wrong
Free shipping bar shows. Remaining $ is wrong.
Written for a Shopify owner whose free shipping progress bar / threshold banner mounts on cart or cart drawer but remaining dollars, progress fill, or unlocked state does not match the live cart and free-shipping shipping rule — hardcoded bar threshold different from Settings → Shipping, remaining math on total_price vs items_subtotal_price, Markets currency / country mismatch, AJAX cart not refreshing remaining after line change — or you chased a missing bar, sticky ATC, quick-add, Hydrogen cart, product recommendations, or checkout shipping rates instead. DIY-first: prove bar vs rule vs cart.js → align threshold and remaining script → retest. Distinct from free shipping bar missing. Soft-link checkout shipping rates wrong and shipping calculator wrong when rates themselves are the leftover gap. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01
Free shipping bar wrong — not missing bar, not sticky ATC / quick-add / Hydrogen / recommendations, not shipping rates.
Several “free shipping messaging broken” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when the free shipping progress bar is visible and the math is wrong — remaining dollars off, progress fill stuck, unlocked too early or never, bar threshold ≠ shipping rule. Bar never mounts is shopify-free-shipping-bar-missing.
Soft-check shopify-sticky-add-to-cart-failing / sticky ATC when cart add is the leftover gap, shopify-quick-add-failing for collection quick-add, shopify-hydrogen-cart-broken for headless Hydrogen, shopify-product-recommendations-blank for recommendations, checkout-shipping-rates-wrong when checkout rates themselves are wrong, and shopify-shipping-calculator-wrong when the storefront calculator is the leftover gap.
02
Prove bar threshold vs shipping rule vs cart.js totals.
Open live cart and cart drawer on a real phone (or DevTools mobile width). Soft-check a free-shipping bar / progress / remaining-$ node exists in the DOM — if absent, switch to shopify-free-shipping-bar-missing. Soft-check Customize → cart / cart-drawer JSON for the free shipping bar section or app block threshold. Soft-check Settings → Shipping and delivery (and Markets) free-shipping rules for the same country / currency. Soft-check /cart.js total_price vs items_subtotal_price vs what the bar prints as remaining. Soft-check after qty change whether remaining updates without a hard refresh.
Capture: bar threshold cents, shipping-rule threshold cents, cart total basis the bar uses, Markets country, and whether discounts / free-gift apps change the total the bar ignores.
03
Align bar threshold, remaining script, and Markets; retest.
Match the bar threshold to the live free-shipping shipping rule (same currency / market). Fix remaining math to use the same basis as the shipping rule — usually items subtotal before tax / shipping, after discounts if the rule does. Rebind AJAX cart / Section Rendering so remaining and progress refresh after line changes. Disable duplicate free-shipping bar apps fighting different thresholds. Publish Current theme, hard-refresh cart and cart drawer, add/remove lines across Markets.
Honest retest: bar still mounts; remaining dollars match threshold minus the rule's cart basis; progress fill tracks qty changes; unlocked state matches when the shipping rule would actually grant free shipping at checkout. Soft-link checkout-shipping-rates-wrong when the bar is correct but checkout still charges shipping. Soft-link shopify-shipping-calculator-wrong when the storefront calculator is the leftover gap. Soft-link cart-drawer-not-updating when totals refresh but the drawer UI stays stale.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove bar threshold vs shipping rule vs cart.js, align remaining script and Markets, retest. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: free shipping bar missing, checkout shipping rates wrong, shipping calculator wrong.
Pay for help when the work is not the free shipping bar itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so storefront / cart / free-shipping-bar exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever free-shipping-bar guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
