Playbook · Shopify password page customization missing

Online Store password / coming soon page cannot be customized — branding missing.

Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose password / coming soon page will not take custom logo, message, colors, or social links — Theme settings ignored, wrong theme serving the password template, draft theme edited while Current still shows defaults, a coming-soon app overriding Liquid, or you chased age gate not blocking, Online Store 2.0 section groups broken, theme app extensions not appearing, or checkout branding instead. DIY-first: prove password template / Theme settings / Current → fix and publish → retest the password URL. Distinct from age gate not blocking, Online Store 2.0 section groups broken, theme app extensions not appearing, and checkout branding API not applying. Soft-link password page stuck online when the store cannot leave password mode after launch. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01

Password page branding missing — not age gate, OS2 section groups, theme app extensions, or checkout branding.

Several “branding / gate / theme” products can look like “my pre-launch page looks wrong.” They do not share a fix. This page is only when the Online Store password / coming soon page is supposed to show your logo, message, colors, or social links, and that branding is missing or stuck on Shopify defaults. Age gate / age verification failing to block underage visitors on a live catalog is shopify-age-gate-not-blocking. Online Store 2.0 header/footer section groups broken on the live theme is shopify-online-store-2-section-groups-broken. Theme app extensions / app blocks not appearing in the theme editor is shopify-theme-app-extensions-not-appearing. Checkout Branding API / checkout editor branding not applying is shopify-checkout-branding-api-not-applying.

Soft links when the bug is adjacent: the whole store stuck behind password after you meant to go live is password-page-stuck-online. JSON templates / section groups blank in the customizer is json-templates-section-groups-broken. This playbook stays on password / coming soon page expected to be branded → logo/message/colors/socials missing or default → Theme settings or password template not what visitors see.

02

Prove password template, Theme settings, Current vs draft, and app override.

Open Online Store → Preferences and confirm password protection is on (or use a password preview URL). Then Online Store → Themes → Customize on the Current theme. Look for Theme settings fields for password / coming soon (logo, message, background, social) and/or a dedicated password template (password.liquid or password JSON template with sections). Note whether you edited a draft theme while live password traffic still serves Current.

Reproduce as a visitor: open the storefront password URL in a private window. Screenshot what you see vs what you set in Theme settings. Check installed apps for a “coming soon / password page / launch page” app that replaces the theme template — disable it temporarily to see if defaults return to theme control. Soft-check: if the problem is you cannot leave password mode after launch, leave this page and use password-page-stuck-online. If underage visitors browse a live restricted catalog, use shopify-age-gate-not-blocking. If header/footer section groups are broken on the live theme, use shopify-online-store-2-section-groups-broken. If app blocks never appear so you cannot place branding blocks, use shopify-theme-app-extensions-not-appearing. If checkout (not password page) branding fails, use shopify-checkout-branding-api-not-applying.

03

Repair password template / Theme settings, publish Current, retest password URL.

Set logo, message, colors, and socials on the Current theme’s password template or Theme settings and save. If you edited a draft, publish that theme (or copy the password settings onto Current). Remove or disable a second coming-soon / password app that injects its own page. Restore password.liquid / password JSON sections if a theme update wiped customizations. Re-upload the logo asset if the CDN URL 404s on the password page only.

If theme app extensions never appear so you cannot add a branding block the vendor documented, fix that on shopify-theme-app-extensions-not-appearing first. If OS2 section groups on the live theme are broken (unrelated to password chrome but often confused in the editor), see shopify-online-store-2-section-groups-broken.

Retest: private window → password / coming soon URL → your logo and message render → colors/socials match Theme settings → no second app chrome fighting the template. Soft notes: store stuck behind password forever belongs on password-page-stuck-online. Age gate on a live catalog belongs on shopify-age-gate-not-blocking. Checkout branding belongs on shopify-checkout-branding-api-not-applying.

04

You tested age gate, OS2 section groups, theme app extensions, or checkout branding instead.

Age gate not blocking is shopify-age-gate-not-blocking. Online Store 2.0 section groups broken is shopify-online-store-2-section-groups-broken. Theme app extensions not appearing is shopify-theme-app-extensions-not-appearing. Checkout branding API not applying is shopify-checkout-branding-api-not-applying. Password page stuck online is password-page-stuck-online. JSON templates / section groups blank is json-templates-section-groups-broken.

The only honest test for this page: password / coming soon URL in a clean browser → custom logo and message visible → Theme settings match what visitors see → no fighting coming-soon app. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove Current theme password template / Theme settings, publish the theme you edited, remove a fighting coming-soon app, retest the password URL. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: password stuck online, age gate, OS2 section groups, theme app extensions, checkout branding.

Pay for help when the work is not the password chrome itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so password / launch / preference / exception alerts land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever password-page redesign, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
