Playbook · Shopify kit / bundle component inventory wrong
The kit still shows available while a component is out — or components never decrement.
Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose product kit or bundle oversells or stays Available because component inventory is not decrementing correctly — Shopify Bundles app, kit apps, custom component mappings, multi-location floors, or a sellable-quantity formula that ignores a zeroed SKU — or you chased bundle discount not applying, Cart Transform Function broken, Flow inventory not updating, variant inventory policy wrong, or inventory item cost wrong instead. DIY-first: prove parent vs components → decrement path → mapping / location sync → retest. Distinct from bundle discount not applying, cart transform function broken, Flow inventory not updating, variant inventory policy wrong, and inventory item cost wrong. Soft-link bundles not showing when the kit never mounts on storefront. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Kit component inventory — not bundle discount, cart transform, Flow inventory, variant policy, or item cost.
Several “bundle / inventory” products can look like “stock is wrong.” They do not share a fix. This page is only when a kit or bundle parent stays sellable or components fail to decrement by the correct multiplier after an order. Bundle / BXGY / cart-transform discount math not applying is shopify-bundle-discount-not-applying. Cart Transform Function not applying merges is shopify-cart-transform-function-broken. Flow inventory quantity conditions / actions not updating stock is shopify-flow-inventory-not-updating. Variant inventory policy deny/continue wrong is shopify-variant-inventory-policy-wrong. Inventory item unit cost / COGS wrong is shopify-inventory-item-cost-wrong.
Soft links when the bug is adjacent: Bundles app / product bundles not showing on storefront is shopify-bundles-not-showing. Bundle builder widget missing is shopify-bundle-builder-not-showing. Multi-location / POS stock not syncing is multi-location-inventory-wrong. This playbook stays on kit/bundle parent Available while components are wrong → component inventory not decrementing → oversell risk.
02
Prove parent availability, component levels, and decrement path.
Open Products → the kit/bundle parent. Note which app owns it (Shopify Bundles, a kit app, or a custom Cart Transform). List every component variant with quantity-per-kit, inventory tracked, and available at the Online Store selling location. Parent “Available” must be derived from the scarcest component ÷ multiplier — not from a standalone parent SKU that never tracks.
Capture before/after on a test order: (1) parent available, (2) each component available at the fulfillment location, (3) inventory_levels adjustment after payment/fulfillment. Confirm the multiplier (kit needs 2× SKU-A → A must drop by 2). Check for duplicate inventory apps, 3PL sync, or POS that rewrite component levels after the kit app decrements.
Soft-check: if the kit never appears on the PDP / cart, leave this page and use shopify-bundles-not-showing or shopify-bundle-builder-not-showing. If a single variant Continue selling when out of stock is the only issue (no kit), use shopify-variant-inventory-policy-wrong.
03
Repair mapping, location sync, and sellable quantity — then retest.
Re-link missing or wrong components in Shopify Bundles / the kit app. Ensure every component tracks inventory at the location that fulfills Online Store orders. Turn off Continue selling on components that should hard-stop the kit. Pause conflicting stock sync apps while you retest one order.
Recompute sellable kits as min(floor(component_available ÷ qty_per_kit)). If the parent has its own tracked inventory, either stop tracking the parent or keep it in lockstep with that formula — a stale parent Available is the classic oversell. For Cart Transform kits, confirm the function still expands components so inventory hooks run on the right line items.
Retest: one paid kit order → each component drops by its multiplier → parent Unavailable when any required component is below one kit. Soft notes: discount not applying belongs on shopify-bundle-discount-not-applying. Transform merge failures belong on shopify-cart-transform-function-broken. Flow-only stock actions belong on shopify-flow-inventory-not-updating. Unit cost / COGS belongs on shopify-inventory-item-cost-wrong.

You tested bundle discount, cart transform, Flow inventory, variant policy, or item cost instead.
Bundle discount not applying is shopify-bundle-discount-not-applying. Cart transform broken is shopify-cart-transform-function-broken. Flow inventory not updating is shopify-flow-inventory-not-updating. Variant inventory policy wrong is shopify-variant-inventory-policy-wrong. Inventory item cost wrong is shopify-inventory-item-cost-wrong. Bundles not showing is shopify-bundles-not-showing.
The only honest test for this page: sell one kit → prove each component’s inventory_levels dropped by the documented multiplier → prove parent Unavailable when any required component cannot cover one more kit. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: map components, place a test order, fix multipliers and location stock, stop conflicting sync, retest parent Unavailable. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: bundle discount, cart transform, Flow inventory, variant inventory policy, inventory item cost, multi-location inventory.
Pay for help when the work is not the kit math itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so lead capture is not dying in DMs, inventory and oversell exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever inventory-uptime guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
