Playbook · Shopify bundle discount not applying

Shopify bundle discount not applying — product bundle / BXGY / cart transform fails at checkout.

Written for a Shopify owner or ops lead whose product bundle, Buy X Get Y, or cart-transform bundle discount looks correct on the product page or cart but does not apply, rejects, or leaves the checkout total unchanged. DIY-first: prove the discount is Active (not Draft / expired / scheduled); match BXGY customer-buys and customer-gets sets and quantities; confirm Shopify Bundles / fixed bundle / bundle-app membership; separate Cart Transform (line merge / bundle shape) from Discount Function / automatic discount (price reduction); stop treating discount stacking, a broken cart transform that never merges lines, missing quantity-break UI, or customer-segment automatic discounts as the same checkout pricing bug. Distinct from discount function not stacking, cart transform function broken, quantity breaks not showing, and customer segment discount not applying. If the bundle widget never appears on the PDP, use bundle builder not showing or bundles not showing. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Bundle discount at checkout — not stacking, cart transform crash, quantity breaks, or segment discount.

Several products can look like “our bundle promo is broken.” They do not share a fix. This page is only when a product bundle, Buy X Get Y, or cart-transform bundle discount should reduce the checkout total and does not — missing discount line, reject message, or total equals full-price components. Two automatic discounts fighting combinesWith / discount classes is discount function not stacking. Cart Transform never merges / expands bundle lines (shape broken, not just price) is cart transform function broken. Volume / quantity-break / BXGY tier UI missing on PDP or cart (you never see the offer) is quantity breaks not showing. Automatic discount only for a ShopifyQL customer segment is customer segment discount not applying. A plain discount code reject is discount code not applying. Generic Functions automatic discount miss is functions discount not applying.

Bundle discount not applying is a checkout pricing problem on a bundle / BXGY / cart-transform offer — not a stacking fight, not a transform that fails to build lines, not a missing PDP tier widget, and not a segment membership miss.

02

Prove Active discount, BXGY / bundle eligibility, transform vs Function path, checkout total.

Open Discounts and the live cart → checkout. Capture screenshots of: discount status = Active; Buy X Get Y customer buys / customer gets products, collections, and quantities; Shopify Bundles / fixed bundle / bundle-app parent and component SKUs; whether pricing is supposed to come from a Discount Function, an automatic/code discount, a Cart Transform price adjustment, or a bundle app; cart drawer line prices vs checkout Order summary; sales channel (Online Store) and Markets country; customer logged-out vs logged-in; any combination / cannot-combine message; Function / app logs if the discount app rejects.

Split the surfaces. Cart shows a “bundle savings” badge but checkout total is full price → discount never applied at checkout (this page). Cart Transform never creates the bundled line / parent → cart transform function broken. Two offers both Active but only one applies → stacking. Tier UI never renders on PDP → quantity breaks not showing. Discount only for a tagged / segment customer → customer segment discount.

Note BXGY vs fixed bundle carefully. Buy X Get Y requires the exact X quantity and Y entitlement in cart. Fixed bundles / Shopify Bundles require the parent (or transformed) lines the discount targets — adding components a la carte often never triggers the bundle discount.

03

Fix BXGY sets, bundle membership, channel, cart-transform pricing — then retest checkout.

On the failing offer (or a test product set): set the discount to Active, confirm start/end dates, usage limits, and Online Store / checkout channel. For Buy X Get Y, align customer buys and customer gets with the exact products or collections in the cart and the required quantities. For Shopify Bundles / fixed bundles, confirm the discount targets the bundle parent or the transformed lines your app writes — not orphan component SKUs alone.

Cart Transform + Discount Function stacks: if Transform only merges lines, ensure a Discount Function or automatic discount still writes the price reduction; if Transform is supposed to emit discounted prices, verify the Function returns expanded cart lines with the intended amounts. Disable a conflicting automatic discount that supersedes (rather than combines with) the bundle offer when you need the bundle price. Bundle apps: republish the offer, clear draft, and match the theme / app block that adds the correct lines to cart.

Retest: logged-out cart with qualifying BXGY or bundle lines → checkout Order summary shows the discounted total (or free / reduced Y lines) → place a test order or draft checkout → admin order discount matches. Then optionally confirm stacking on discount function not stacking only after the single bundle offer applies alone.

04

Checklist and how to prove the bundle discount applies at checkout.

  • Discount / Function / bundle app offer is Active (not Draft, expired, or scheduled-only).
  • BXGY X and Y product/collection sets and quantities match the live cart exactly.
  • Fixed / Shopify Bundles / cart-transform lines are the ones the discount targets (parent or transformed lines).
  • Online Store / checkout channel and Markets country allow the offer; customer eligibility matches logged-out / logged-in test.
  • Cart Transform builds the bundle shape when required; Discount Function or automatic discount writes the price reduction.
  • No conflicting automatic discount silently replaces the bundle offer when you need the bundle price alone.
  • Retest: qualifying cart → checkout shows discounted total → admin order reflects the same discount.

Proof is before/after checkout Order summary (and admin order discount) — not a PDP badge alone, not a stacking experiment, and not a Transform that only merges lines without pricing.

05

You tested stacking, cart transform crash, quantity-break UI, segment discount, or code reject instead.

Common misfires: discount function not stacking (two offers fight combinesWith), cart transform function broken (lines never merge / expand), quantity breaks not showing (tier UI never renders on PDP/cart), customer segment discount not applying (ShopifyQL segment miss), discount code not applying (typed code reject), and functions discount not applying (generic automatic Function miss). Fix the single bundle / BXGY / cart-transform price at checkout here first.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY when the bundle / BXGY miss is a one-time settings fix you can clear from this checklist — Active status, product sets, quantities, channel, transform vs discount path. Pay when the work is connecting the stack you already have so lead capture is not dying in DMs, cart / ops / bundle-promo exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not an upsell retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or uptime claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, automatic Plus eligibility, a custom discount SaaS, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
