Playbook · Shopify Markets geo IP redirect loop

Markets / geo IP country redirect looping — or shoppers land on the wrong market.

Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose Markets geo IP / country redirects loop (ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS between domains or subfolders) or send shoppers to the wrong country market — conflicting geo-redirect apps, Cloudflare rules fighting Shopify, Markets domain mapping wrong, localization cookies stuck, VPN/proxy IP mapped to the wrong country, or you chased currency converter wrong, Translation API missing locale, Markets Pro duties mismatch, or checkout language wrong instead. DIY-first: prove Markets domains / redirect chain / cookies → fix one redirect authority → retest from a clean IP. Distinct from currency converter wrong, Translation API missing locale, Markets Pro duties mismatch, and checkout language wrong. Soft-link www / non-www redirect loop when the loop is only primary domain SSL/DNS (not Markets country routing). No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Markets geo IP redirect loop / wrong market — not currency, Translation API, duties, or checkout language.

Several “international / Markets” products can look like “my store sends people to the wrong place.” They do not share a fix. This page is only when Shopify Markets (or a geo-IP / country-redirect app) redirects shoppers in a loop between domains or subfolders, or lands them on the wrong country market. Wrong presentment currency on an otherwise correct market URL is shopify-currency-converter-wrong. Missing product / theme / checkout translations for a locale is shopify-translation-api-missing-locale. Duties / landed cost mismatch under Markets Pro / managed markets is shopify-markets-pro-duties-mismatch. Checkout language stuck wrong while storefront language is fine is shopify-checkout-language-wrong.

Soft links when the bug is adjacent: www vs non-www ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS from primary domain / Cloudflare Flexible SSL (not country Markets) is www-redirect-loop-shopify. Wrong hreflang / alternate language URLs for SEO is shopify-hreflang-markets-wrong. Markets currency / price wrong for country (admin Markets pricing, not redirect) is shopify-markets-currency-wrong. Canonical / www vs Markets duplicate content is shopify-canonical-url-wrong. This playbook stays on visitor IP / country → Markets or geo app redirects → loop or wrong market domain / subfolder.

02

Prove Markets domains, geo redirect apps, Cloudflare rules, and localization cookies.

Open Settings → Markets. Note primary market, each market’s domain or subfolder, and whether “redirect visitors to their local market” (or equivalent) is on. List every installed geo-IP, country selector, Geolocation, or redirect app — two authorities fighting is the most common loop. In Cloudflare (or another CDN), list Page Rules / Redirect Rules / Workers that touch country or hostname. Soft-check Flexible SSL www loops on www-redirect-loop-shopify if the chain never mentions a market country code.

Reproduce: private window → DevTools Network → preserve log → hit the storefront from the offending country (or a VPN that maps there). Screenshot the 301/302 chain (A → B → A, or A → wrong market forever). Clear localization / country / cart cookies and retry. Soft-check: if the URL is already the right market but currency is wrong, leave this page and use shopify-currency-converter-wrong. If translations are missing for a locale, use shopify-translation-api-missing-locale. If duties at checkout disagree with landed cost, use shopify-markets-pro-duties-mismatch. If only checkout language is wrong, use shopify-checkout-language-wrong.

03

Repair domain mapping, disable fighting redirects, clear cookies, retest clean IP.

Pick one redirect authority: either Shopify Markets auto-redirect or one geo app — not both. Fix Markets domain / subfolder mapping so primary and market hostnames are not each other’s targets. Remove Cloudflare country redirects that duplicate Markets. Clear localization cookies and retest without VPN first, then from the intended country IP. If a country selector forces a market that Markets then overrides, align the selector with Markets or turn one off.

If hreflang / alternate URLs are wrong for SEO (not the live redirect), fix that on shopify-hreflang-markets-wrong. If Markets admin currency / price for a country is wrong without a redirect bug, see shopify-markets-currency-wrong.

Retest: clean browser → intended country IP → single redirect to the correct market domain or subfolder → no A→B→A loop → country selector matches Markets. Soft notes: www-only SSL loops belong on www-redirect-loop-shopify. Currency-only bugs belong on shopify-currency-converter-wrong. Translation gaps belong on shopify-translation-api-missing-locale. Duties belong on shopify-markets-pro-duties-mismatch. Checkout language belongs on shopify-checkout-language-wrong.

04

You tested currency converter, Translation API, Markets Pro duties, or checkout language instead.

Currency converter wrong is shopify-currency-converter-wrong. Translation API missing locale is shopify-translation-api-missing-locale. Markets Pro duties mismatch is shopify-markets-pro-duties-mismatch. Checkout language wrong is shopify-checkout-language-wrong. www / non-www redirect loop is www-redirect-loop-shopify. Hreflang Markets wrong is shopify-hreflang-markets-wrong.

The only honest test for this page: clean browser + country IP → Markets or geo redirect → one hop to the correct market → no loop → wrong-market landing fixed. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove Markets domains and the redirect chain, disable a fighting geo app or Cloudflare rule, clear localization cookies, retest from a clean country IP. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: www redirect loop, currency converter, Translation API, Markets Pro duties, checkout language.

Pay for help when the work is not the Markets redirect itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so Markets / redirect / localization / exception alerts land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a Markets consulting retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever Markets architecture retainer, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
