Playbook · Shopify countdown timer wrong
The clock mounts. The remaining time is wrong.
Written for a Shopify owner whose countdown timer is wrong — sale / flash-sale / urgency clock chrome is visible, but remaining days/hours disagree with the intended end date, timezone, or Markets clock — or you chased a missing countdown, announcement bar, free shipping threshold bar, or Sale % badge instead. DIY-first: prove timezone/end-date vs Markets vs app schedule → repair → retest. Distinct from countdown timer not showing and free shipping bar wrong. Soft-link announcement bar not showing when the promo bar is the leftover gap. Soft-link compare-at badge wrong when Sale % is the leftover gap. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Countdown timer wrong — not countdown timer not showing, not announcement bar.
Several “urgency / sale clock” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when a countdown / sale / flash-sale timer mounts but remaining time, end date, or timezone is wrong. Timer never appearing is shopify-countdown-timer-not-showing. Announcement / promo bar missing is shopify-announcement-bar-not-showing.
Soft-check shopify-free-shipping-bar-wrong when the free-shipping threshold bar is the leftover gap, and soft-link shopify-compare-at-badge-wrong when Sale % is wrong — not when the countdown digits themselves disagree with the intended end datetime.
02
Prove timezone/end-date vs Markets vs app schedule conflict.
On Current theme (not a draft), open PDP / home where the countdown should render in incognito. Confirm the clock chrome mounts. Note displayed remaining time vs admin end date / time / timezone. Soft-check store timezone vs shopper browser timezone vs Markets country. Soft-check end-date metafield / app schedule already past while Sale still live. Soft-check DST / UTC offset. Soft-check duplicate countdown apps fighting. Soft-check cached section JSON or stale app config after theme copy. Soft-check mobile vs desktop settings using different end dates.
Capture: page URL + section/block name, wrong-clock screenshot on desktop and phone, admin end datetime + timezone, Markets country, app schedule screenshot, console errors, duplicate timer embeds on Current, and DST / UTC notes.
03
Repair end date / timezone / Markets / app schedule; retest clock.
Set one authoritative end datetime in the theme block or countdown app (include timezone). Align Markets / locale clocks if the timer localizes. Clear stale metafield / schedule. Disable duplicate timer apps one at a time. Publish Current, hard-refresh desktop and phone.
Honest retest: remaining time matches the intended end date within normal clock skew — not expired-while-sale-live, not counting past zero, not a different Markets clock. Soft-link shopify-countdown-timer-not-showing when the timer never mounts. Soft-link shopify-free-shipping-bar-wrong when the threshold bar is the leftover gap. Soft-link shopify-compare-at-badge-wrong when Sale % is wrong.

You tested countdown timer not showing, announcement bar, free shipping bar, or compare-at badge instead.
Timer never appearing is shopify-countdown-timer-not-showing. Announcement / promo bar missing is shopify-announcement-bar-not-showing. Free shipping progress bar wrong threshold is shopify-free-shipping-bar-wrong. Compare-at / Sale % badge wrong is shopify-compare-at-badge-wrong.
The only honest test for this page: a countdown / sale / flash-sale timer mounts, but remaining time, end date, or timezone is wrong — while the missing-timer / announcement / free-shipping / compare-at paths may still work.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove timezone/end-date vs Markets vs app schedule, soft-check apps, repair, retest. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: countdown timer not showing, free shipping bar wrong, compare-at badge wrong.
Pay for help when the work is not the wrong countdown itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so storefront / theme / countdown exception alerts land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever countdown accuracy guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
