Playbook · Shopify collaborator access
How Shopify collaborator access works for a 72-hour ops install.
Written for a Shopify DTC owner who is about to let an operator into admin for a short, scoped install — or who wants to understand the invite before buying. DIY first: invite, pick least-privilege scopes, start the clock when access is in, revoke after handoff. No earnings claim, no invented case studies, no “we need your owner password.”

01
What collaborator access is.
Shopify collaborator access is Shopify’s built-in way for a partner or contractor to work inside your store admin without becoming a permanent staff member or holding the owner login. You send an invite, you approve which permission categories they can touch, and you can remove them when the job is done.
For a 72-hour ops install the point is simple: the operator needs enough admin to wire lead capture, ops alerts, and checkout-ready flows on the live store — not bank access, not theme redesign authority forever, not your personal password.
This page is about the access path itself. It is not the Inbox / Gmail flood playbook, not the WISMO status loop, and not a pitch that collaborator access alone “grows revenue.” Access is the door. The install is the work behind it.
02
Not owner passwords or a forever seat.
Do not share the store owner password. Do not create a fake “owner” account for a vendor. Collaborator access exists so you can avoid both of those habits.
A full Staff account with every permission is also the wrong default for a short install. Staff seats are for people who stay. Collaborator access is for a scoped job with a clear end — invite, work, revoke.
If someone asks you to email the owner password “just for speed,” that is a red flag. Latch AI Ops does not take owner passwords. Store URL is collected at checkout; access plus a delivery thread is how the work runs.
03
How to invite from Shopify admin.
In Shopify admin open Settings → Users and permissions (wording can vary slightly by Shopify plan). Look for collaborator or partner requests — Shopify’s Partner Dashboard side sends the request; you approve it on the store.
Use the email the operator gives you in the delivery thread or on the checkout confirmation. Do not invent a second admin login “for convenience.” One collaborator invite, one operator, one store.
After you approve, confirm they can open the live store admin. Screenshot or note the approval time. That timestamp is what honest 72-hour language uses — not the payment receipt alone.
04
Which scopes a 72-hour ops install needs.
Least privilege. For a Latch-style AI ops install you typically need enough to install or configure apps, touch notification / checkout-adjacent settings, and — only if agreed — a theme snippet for lead capture. Exact checkbox labels move over time; the principle does not.
- Usually needed: Apps and channels; Settings areas that cover checkout, customer accounts, or notifications; Online store / Themes if a small theme edit is in the delivery scope.
- Often needed: Orders / customers read so alerts and status wiring can be verified on real data without guessing.
- Not needed by default: Bank accounts, payouts, Shopify Payments full ownership, Domains transfer, Staff that can create other owners.
If the operator asks for every permission “because it is easier,” push back and ask which step needs which box. A focused install should be able to name the scopes. If your only problem is flooded Inbox threads, start on the Inbox flooded playbook before you widen access.
05
When the 72-hour clock starts.
Payment books the slot. The 72-hour install clock starts when collaborator access is approved and the store URL is confirmed — not the second the card clears on Whop.
That distinction matters. If you pay Friday night and approve access Monday morning, the work window is measured from Monday access, not from Friday payment. If access sits pending, the clock has not started.
Latch AI Ops: one live Shopify store, United States offer, delivery thread plus access. $997 USD one-time. Not a SaaS seat, not a helpdesk retainer, not a Klaviyo rebuild, not a brand or theme job. No ticket-cut percent. No recovered-revenue promise.
06
How to revoke after handoff.
When the delivery thread says the install is handed off, go back to Users and permissions and remove the collaborator. Do it the same day if you can. Leaving unused collaborator access open is how stores accumulate silent admin accounts.
Keep a short note: what apps were installed or configured, what settings changed, where ops alerts land. That note is for you — not a marketing case study. Latch has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet.
If something breaks after revoke, reopen a narrow invite for a fix window. Do not leave full access sitting “just in case.”
07
When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you only needed to understand the invite path: approve a partner, pick scopes, revoke when done. This page is enough for that. No agency required to click Invite.
Pay for help when the work is connecting the stack you already have — lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you check, checkout-ready wiring — inside a fixed 72-hour window after access. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: that install on one live Shopify store. Clock starts on collaborator access. Operator is Nico. Checkout is on Whop. You can revoke access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a small focused app / notification wiring job often sits in the same $500–$2,500 band. A full CX agency retainer is a different product. $997 is the cheap end of wiring three systems on one store — not a revenue or ticket-cut guarantee.
What it does not buy: guaranteed fewer tickets, recovered checkout revenue, or a published case study. You are buying the install and the access model described on this page.
