Playbook · Shopify account login loop

Login works for a second. Then you are back on login.

Written for a Shopify owner whose account login loops — email / password or OTP succeeds, then the browser bounces back to /account/login (or the login challenge) again and again — or you chased Multipass SSO, store password branding, Markets currency, locale strings, or a missing login-link email instead. DIY-first: prove session cookie vs return_to vs classic/new hop → repair → retest. Distinct from Multipass login failing (Plus SSO token). Soft-link password page customization missing when storefront password branding is the gap. Soft-link customer login link email not sending when the magic link never arrives. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01

Account login loop — not Multipass, not password page, not login-link email.

Several “login” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when credentials or OTP succeed and the customer is immediately bounced back to the login screen — an infinite hop. Plus Multipass SSO token / secret failure is shopify-multipass-login-failing.

Soft-check shopify-password-page-customization-missing when the Online Store password / coming soon page branding is the gap, shopify-currency-converter-wrong when Markets currency is wrong, shopify-translation-api-missing-locale when locale strings are missing, and customer-login-link-email-not-sending when the magic / login link email never arrives. Soft-link shopify-customer-accounts-login-broken when the broader classic vs new / form / Shop login story is the leftover gap — this page stays on the post-success bounce.

02

Prove session cookie vs return_to ping-pong vs classic vs new hop.

In incognito on the live primary domain, submit a known-good customer password or complete the OTP / email challenge. Watch the URL bar: does it flash /account then return to /account/login? Soft-check Settings → Customer accounts classic vs new against theme /account links. Soft-check DevTools → Application → Cookies for a session cookie that clears or never sets on the hostname shoppers use (www vs apex, custom domain). Soft-check return_to / redirect query values that point back at login. Soft-check apps that force re-auth after login. Soft-check Online Store password OFF so you are not confusing storefront password with customer login.

Capture: network waterfall of the login POST + redirects, cookie jar before/after, Customer accounts setting screenshot, primary domain setting, and any Multipass / SSO app toggles (even if you are not on Multipass — confirm it is off if unused).

03

Repair session / return_to / accounts mode; retest login once.

Align classic vs new customer accounts with theme account URLs and app expectations. Make the primary domain match the hostname where session cookies must stick. Remove or correct return_to values that send shoppers back to login. Disable conflicting account / SSO / wishlist / loyalty apps one at a time. If theme login liquid was patched, restore from theme default on Current and Publish. Hard-refresh on desktop and phone.

Honest retest: one successful login stays on /account (or the intended deep link) without bouncing back. Soft-link shopify-multipass-login-failing when Plus Multipass is the leftover gap. Soft-link customer-login-link-email-not-sending when the magic link never arrives. Soft-link shopify-password-page-customization-missing when storefront password branding is the leftover gap.

04

You tested Multipass, password page, currency, locale, or login-link email instead.

Plus Multipass SSO token / secret / return_to failure is shopify-multipass-login-failing. Online Store password / coming soon branding missing is shopify-password-page-customization-missing. Markets / currency converter wrong is shopify-currency-converter-wrong. Translation API / Markets locale missing is shopify-translation-api-missing-locale. Customer login link / magic link email not sending is customer-login-link-email-not-sending.

The only honest test for this page: correct credentials or OTP complete, then the shopper is bounced back to login without a sticky account session — Multipass unused, password page off, login-link email may still deliver.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove session cookie vs return_to vs classic/new, soft-check domain / apps, repair, retest. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: Multipass login failing, customer accounts login broken, customer login link email not sending, password page customization missing.

Pay for help when the work is not the login bounce itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so storefront / account / checkout exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever login-loop guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
