Playbook · Meta pixel + CAPI vs ops install
Meta pixel and CAPI measure ads. Latch is a 72-hour ops install. Different jobs.
Written for a Shopify operator comparing a Meta / Facebook pixel and Conversions API (CAPI) setup — Pixel ID, dataset, browser events, server events, Event Match Quality, Test Events — against a one-time ops install. Native tools first. Honest limits. DIY the pixel first. Pay $997 when the gap is wiring. No recovered-revenue promise, no ROAS promise, no invented case studies. Distinct from add-to-cart tracking (missing or double-firing events after pixels are already in) and from WISMO app vs install (tracking widget vs wiring).

01
What a Meta pixel + CAPI setup actually is.
“We need Facebook ads working” almost always starts as a measurement job. Someone installs the Meta / Facebook channel or drops the Pixel base code. Connects a dataset (Pixel ID) in Events Manager. Turns on Conversions API so Purchase and other priority events also send from the server when the browser blocks cookies. Checks Test Events. Watches Event Match Quality. Hands you a live dataset and a short handoff note.
That is a real product. It lives in Meta Events Manager and in the Shopify channel or partner that ships the events. It makes ads measurement less blind. It does not install lead capture on the storefront. It does not own abandoned checkout in Klaviyo. It does not replace a silent shipping confirmation. It is ads measurement on tools built for that job.
Public ranges other shops publish (not testimonials): a scoped Meta pixel + CAPI install or audit from a freelance ads tech or agency commonly runs a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, sometimes bundled into a monthly ads management retainer. Those numbers are comps, not a Latch price list. This page does not promise ROAS, CPA, or attribution lift from either product.
02
What Latch actually is.
Latch AI Ops is not a Meta partner seat, not an ads agency, and not an App Store pixel app. It is a Shopify AI Ops Install: $997 USD one-time, 72 hours after collaborator access, on one live store. Three systems: lead capture on the store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. Wired on the stack you already pay for — Shopify notifications, Flow if you have it, Klaviyo if you have it — not Pixel IDs or CAPI as the product.
Clock starts when collaborator access is in, not at payment. Store URL collected at checkout. Access plus a delivery thread. Operator is Nico. United States offer. Not a SaaS seat, not a Meta Ads SOW, not a Gorgias implementation, not a Klaviyo rebuild, not a support VA, not a brand or theme job.
If what you want is a clean Pixel + CAPI path so Meta sees Purchase once, this is the wrong page to buy from. Stay DIY and finish the pixel job — or hire an ads tech for that scoped setup.

Ads measurement vs ops wiring, honestly.
Same merchant pain (“the store should stop relying on one person babysitting admin and guessing at ads”). Two different products.
A Meta pixel + CAPI setup:
- Lives in Events Manager and the Shopify / Meta channel or partner that sends events. Pixel base code, dataset, CAPI, Test Events, Event Match Quality.
- Makes ads measurement less incomplete when browsers block cookies. Does not stop a silent shipping email or a missing 3PL writeback from creating the customer ticket.
- Often a few hundred to a few thousand as a scoped tech job, or folded into a monthly ads retainer. Public comps vary. No ROAS number belongs on this page.
- Does not capture leads from DMs onto the store, or leave a checkout-ready marketing workflow live as the core deliverable.
The Latch 72-hour ops install:
- Lives in ops. Lead capture, alerts, checkout-ready workflow on tools you already pay for.
- Tries to make the exception show up before the customer is the monitoring system. It does not promise revenue recovered, tickets erased, or ROAS improved.
- $997 USD one-time. 72 hours after collaborator access. You can revoke access after handoff.
- May touch checkout and notifications where they fit. It is not sold as “N events verified in Meta.” Use a pixel + CAPI job when ads measurement is the job.
- Does not replace Meta Ads, Klaviyo, Gorgias, or 3PL apps. Connects what is already there.
If add-to-cart, begin-checkout, or purchase already miss or double-fire after pixels are installed, that is a different debugging job — walk it on /add-to-cart-tracking. Buying another pixel install to paper over silent transactional mail is still the wrong first move.
04
DIY the pixel and CAPI first.
If the job in your head is “Meta should see Purchase once from this store,” do that yourself this week. Open Shopify → Settings → Apps and sales channels (or Customer events). Install or reconnect the Meta / Facebook channel you already use. Confirm one dataset (Pixel ID). Enable Conversions API or the partner path your channel documents. In Events Manager, open Test Events. Place a real $1 test order (or the channel’s test purchase). Confirm Purchase fires once — browser, server, or both without a double count you cannot explain. No Latch required for that first pass.
If catalog or checkout complexity justifies a partner, hire an ads tech or agency for a scoped pixel + CAPI setup. That is a legitimate buy. It is still a different buy from wiring lead capture and ops alerts across the stack you already pay for.
Keep one owner per checkout story. Do not add a second “ads recovery” flow while native order confirmation is off. The DIY abandoned-checkout and confirmation versions are /abandoned-checkout and /order-confirmation-email-not-sending.
05
When the pixel job is the wrong buy.
A Pixel ID cannot fix a wiring gap. You will still pay for ads tech that papers over the same loop if:
- Shipping confirmation still says “we’ll send tracking soon,” or the native email is off.
- Fulfillment lives in a 3PL that does not write tracking back to the Shopify order.
- Abandoned checkout is a Klaviyo draft plus a native toggle you forgot.
- Leads die in Instagram DMs because nothing captures them on the store.
- Ops alerts for aging unfulfilled orders never land in a channel you check — that is Flow / notifications work, not a Meta Ads SOW.
Those are ops jobs. That is when $997 is the honest buy: connect the stack, stand up alerts in a channel you already check, leave a checkout-ready workflow live at hour 72. Not a cheaper pixel install. Not an earnings guarantee. Not a ROAS promise.
07
What not to do.
- Do not hire a Meta pixel + CAPI job to fix a shipping email that never fires. Ads measurement will still sit on blank tracking stories.
- Do not stack a second Pixel ID, a Klaviyo “on the way” email, and a Gorgias WISMO macro as three tracking stories. Pick a source of truth per job.
- Do not treat Latch as a cheaper Meta Ads install. It is not sold as Pixel, CAPI, or campaign management. It will not replace a scoped ads-tech SOW.
- Do not buy a second pixel partner before you confirm one dataset, CAPI on, and one real Purchase in Test Events.
- Do not claim recovered revenue, ROAS lift, or fewer tickets because you installed either product. This page will not either.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you want Meta pixel + CAPI. One dataset, channel connected, CAPI on, one real Purchase in Test Events this week. That is the ads-measurement job. No Latch required for a first pass. Hire an ads tech when that scoped setup is what you actually need.
Pay for help when the gap is wiring — lead capture not dying in DMs, ops alerts in a channel you already check, a checkout-ready workflow instead of a draft in Klaviyo plus a native toggle you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a Meta Ads SOW, not a Gorgias implementation, not a Klaviyo rebuild, not a support VA, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a scoped Meta pixel + CAPI install or audit commonly runs a few hundred to a few thousand, sometimes inside a monthly ads retainer. A Shopify Flow or app automation install typically runs $500–$2,500. A Klaviyo-only flow rebuild typically runs $2,000–$5,000. Dedicated Gorgias implementation shops commonly start around $3,750. A support VA is $500–$800 a month. $997 is a one-time 72-hour install of three systems on the stack you already pay for — not a monthly seat, not a recovered-revenue number, not a ROAS promise, not a ticket-volume cut.
What it does not buy: Pixel IDs or CAPI as the deliverable, recovered checkout revenue, a lift in conversion or ROAS, fewer tickets as a guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
