Playbook · Gorgias vs ops install

A Gorgias implementation is helpdesk work. Latch is a 72-hour ops install. They are not the same buy.

Written for a Shopify operator comparing a Gorgias (or Zendesk / Freshdesk) implementation — macros, rules, ticket views, channel routing — against a one-time ops install. Native tools first. Honest limits. Stay DIY if you want a helpdesk. Pay $997 when the gap is wiring. No ticket-cut promise, no recovered-revenue number, no invented case studies. Distinct from the WISMO app vs install comparison (widget vs wiring).

01

What a Gorgias implementation actually is.

“Gorgias implementation” almost always means helpdesk work. Connect channels. Build macros for WISMO, refunds, and sizing. Write rules that tag or auto-reply. Set ticket views so agents see what matters. Train the team on which queue owns Instagram DMs vs email. Sometimes migrate from Shopify Inbox or Zendesk.

That is a real product. Monthly SaaS seat plus (often) a paid implementation. Lives in the support inbox. It answers tickets faster once tickets already exist. It does not install lead capture on the storefront. It does not post an unfulfilled-order alert into Slack. It does not own abandoned checkout. It is a better window on conversations you already have.

Public ranges other shops publish (not testimonials): dedicated Gorgias implementation partners commonly start around $3,750 for a scoped setup. Gorgias itself bills monthly by ticket volume. Those numbers are comps, not a Latch price list.

02

What Latch actually is.

Latch AI Ops is not a helpdesk, not a Gorgias partner seat, and not an App Store listing. It is a Shopify AI Ops Install: $997 USD one-time, 72 hours after collaborator access, on one live store. Three systems: lead capture on the store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. Wired on the stack you already pay for — Shopify notifications, Flow if you have it, Klaviyo if you have it — not a new ticketing UI.

Clock starts when collaborator access is in, not at payment. Store URL collected at checkout. Access plus a delivery thread. Operator is Nico. United States offer. Not a SaaS seat, not a Gorgias implementation, not a Klaviyo rebuild, not a support VA, not a brand or theme job.

If what you want is macros, rules, and a clean agent queue, this is the wrong page to buy from. Stay DIY and set up the helpdesk — or hire a Gorgias partner for that job.

03

Helpdesk vs wiring, honestly.

Same merchant pain (“we are drowning in the same questions”). Two different products.

A Gorgias (or similar) implementation:

  • Lives in support. Macros, rules, ticket views, channel routing, sometimes AI answers on top of the helpdesk.
  • Makes existing tickets faster to handle. Does not stop a silent shipping email or a missing 3PL writeback from creating the ticket in the first place.
  • Billed monthly for seats / tickets, plus a one-time implementation fee when you hire a partner.
  • Does not capture leads from DMs onto the store, or leave a checkout-ready workflow live.

The Latch 72-hour ops install:

  • Lives in ops. Lead capture, alerts, checkout-ready workflow on tools you already pay for.
  • Tries to make the exception show up before the customer is the monitoring system. It does not promise that ticket volume disappears.
  • $997 USD one-time. 72 hours after collaborator access. You can revoke access after handoff.
  • Does not give you Gorgias macros, SLA dashboards, or agent seats. Use Gorgias (or Inbox) for that.
  • Does not replace Gorgias, AfterShip, Inbox, or Klaviyo. Connects what is already there.

If tracking is missing and the shipping email never fires, both still fail at the root. The helpdesk will get a better macro for “where is my order?” The install cannot invent a scan. Fix fulfillment writeback and native notifications first. That is the WISMO playbook, not a helpdesk rebuild.

04

Stay DIY if you want a helpdesk.

If the job in your head is “put the same answers behind macros so agents stop rewriting WISMO,” do that yourself this week. Shopify Inbox already exists. Gorgias connects to Shopify. Write three macros: order status, refund policy, shipping ETA. Add one rule that tags “where is my order.” Put a one-line “Track your order” pointer in the shipping email. That is free-to-start helpdesk work. No agency required for a first pass.

If volume justifies a partner, hire a Gorgias implementation shop for macros, rules, and views. That is a legitimate buy. It is still a different buy from wiring lead capture and ops alerts on the store.

Keep one inbox as source of truth. Do not add a second helpdesk “for WISMO” until the first inbox has a playbook and the shipping email tells the truth. The DIY inbox and repetitive-question version is /shopify-inbox-flooded and /repetitive-support.

05

When the helpdesk is the wrong buy.

A macro cannot fix a wiring gap. You will still pay seats for the same loop if:

  • Shipping confirmation still says “we’ll send tracking soon,” or the native email is off.
  • Fulfillment lives in a 3PL that does not write tracking back to the Shopify order.
  • The same “where is my order?” still loops after macros are live because the data was never there.
  • Abandoned checkout is a Klaviyo draft plus a native toggle you forgot.
  • Leads die in Instagram DMs because nothing captures them on the store.
  • Unfulfilled orders sit until the customer is the alarm.

Those are ops jobs. That is when $997 is the honest buy: connect the stack, stand up alerts in a channel you already check, leave a checkout-ready workflow live at hour 72. Not a cheaper Gorgias partner. Not a ticket-volume guarantee.

If the helpdesk is already on and the same question still arrives because the email never fired, that is the WISMO email-not-sending playbook.

07

What not to do.

  • Do not buy a Gorgias rebuild to fix a shipping email that never fires. Agents will still hunt blank orders.
  • Do not stack Gorgias AI answers, Shopify Inbox, and a Klaviyo “your order is on the way” as three tracking stories. Pick a source of truth.
  • Do not treat Latch as a cheaper Gorgias partner. It is not a helpdesk. It will not give you macros or agent seats.
  • Do not hire a VA to sit in the ticket queue before tracking and alerts exist. You will pay someone to hunt the same order you should have notified.
  • Do not claim a percent of tickets will disappear because you installed either product. This page will not either.

08

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you want a helpdesk. Shopify Inbox macros, or a Gorgias first-pass of rules and views this week. That is the helpdesk job. No agency required for a first pass. Hire a Gorgias partner when that scoped rebuild is what you actually need.

Pay for help when the gap is wiring — lead capture not dying in DMs, ops alerts in a channel you already check, a checkout-ready workflow instead of a draft in Klaviyo plus a native toggle you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a Gorgias implementation, not a Klaviyo rebuild, not a support VA, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: dedicated Gorgias implementation shops commonly start around $3,750. A Shopify Flow or app install typically runs $500–$2,500. A Klaviyo-only flow rebuild typically runs $2,000–$5,000. A support VA is $500–$800 a month. Shopify tracking-page apps (AfterShip, ParcelPanel / CWILL) start free or about $11/month and scale by shipment volume. $997 is a one-time 72-hour install of three systems on the stack you already pay for — not a monthly helpdesk seat, not a ticket-volume cut, not recovered revenue.

What it does not buy: Gorgias macros, agent seats, fewer tickets as a guarantee, recovered checkout revenue, a lift in conversion, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
