Playbook · Shopify size guide not opening

Guide control shows. Panel stays shut.

Written for a Shopify owner whose Size guide / Fit guide control mounts on the PDP but the accordion, details/summary, collapsible section, or theme drawer never opens — unbound theme JS after an app fight, empty size-guide metafields aborting open, CSS pointer-events / overflow clipping the panel, accordion apps stealing clicks — or you chased missing chart content or a dedicated popup instead. DIY-first: prove click vs open state → restore handlers / content → retest. Distinct from size chart not showing and size chart popup not opening. Soft-link product tabs not showing when other accordions are also dead. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01

Size guide not opening — not missing chart content, not dedicated popup.

Several “size / fit guide broken on the product page” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when the Size guide control is visible but the accordion / details / drawer panel never expands — unbound theme JS, empty metafield aborting open, CSS clipping the panel, accordion apps stealing clicks. Chart content never rendered at all is shopify-size-chart-not-showing. Dedicated fit-guide popup / modal that never opens is size-chart-popup-not-opening.

Soft-check shopify-product-tabs-not-showing / shopify-product-faq-not-showing when other PDP accordions are also dead, and quick-view-modal-not-opening when collection quick view is the leftover gap.

02

Prove click vs aria-expanded / open / drawer state.

Open a live PDP that should show Size guide. Soft-check the control is in the DOM (not display:none). Click / tap. Soft-check DevTools: aria-expanded flips, details[open] appears, or the drawer class / transform updates. Soft-check Console for JS errors on click. Soft-check theme / product metafields used for size guide HTML or table — often product.metafields.custom.size_guide.

If the Size guide link / block is missing entirely, switch to shopify-size-chart-not-showing. If a dedicated popup / modal app is the intended UI and never mounts, switch to size-chart-popup-not-opening.

03

Restore handlers, fill metafields, clear CSS/app fights; retest.

Rebind or restore theme size-guide / accordion JS on the Current theme. Fill the size-guide metafield (or theme block setting) with real content so open is not aborted. Remove pointer-events / overflow rules that clip the panel. Disable fighting accordion / tab / popup apps until one clean open path remains. Publish Current theme, hard-refresh the PDP, and click the control.

Honest retest: control expands; guide content is readable; console stays clean. Soft-link shopify-size-chart-not-showing when content never renders. Soft-link size-chart-popup-not-opening when the intended UI is a dedicated popup. Soft-link shopify-product-tabs-not-showing when description tabs / accordions are also blank.

04

You tested missing chart content or a dedicated popup instead.

Chart content never rendered is shopify-size-chart-not-showing. Dedicated fit-guide popup / modal that never opens is size-chart-popup-not-opening.

The only honest test for this page: Size guide control is visible and clickable, but aria-expanded / details[open] / drawer state never flips. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.

Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove click vs open state, restore theme handlers, fill size-guide metafields, clear CSS / app fights, retest. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: size chart not showing, size chart popup not opening, product tabs not showing.

Pay for help when the work is not the accordion itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so theme / accordion / metafield exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.

What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.

Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.

What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever accordion guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.

Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
