Playbook · Shopify Scripts deprecated → Functions (Plus)
Shopify Scripts deprecated / migrating checkout scripts to Shopify Functions (Plus) — Line Item, Shipping, Payment → Functions.
Written for a Shopify Plus owner or ops lead whose checkout still depends on deprecated Ruby Scripts — Line Item, Shipping, or Payment Scripts that Shopify is sunsetting in favor of Shopify Functions. DIY-first: inventory every live Script, map each behavior to a Function extension, publish on the live Plus checkout, prove parity, then disable Scripts. Distinct from Functions / automatic discount not applying, typed discount codes not applying, thank you / order status upsell scripts broken, and Fraud analysis false positives. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

Scripts → Functions migration — not discount not applying, codes, thank-you upsell, fraud.
Several products can look like “checkout scripts are broken.” They do not share a settings panel. This page is only when Plus checkout still runs Line Item / Shipping / Payment Scripts that Shopify has deprecated, and you must migrate that logic to Shopify Functions. An already-built Functions / Checkout UI automatic discount that never applies is Functions discount not applying. A typed code rejecting at checkout is discount-code-not-applying. Post-purchase thank-you / order status additional scripts not loading is thank-you-page-upsell-broken. Paid orders canceled on high risk is Fraud analysis false positives. This page is only: Shopify Scripts deprecated / migrating checkout scripts to Shopify Functions (Plus).
Six ordinary reasons migration stalls: no inventory of which Scripts still run on live checkout, mapping Line Item logic to the wrong Function API, Shipping / Payment Scripts left on while only discounts moved, Function published in partner dashboard but not installed on the live Plus shop, non-Plus plan expected to run Script Editor (Scripts were Plus), or you are debugging Functions discount not applying / typed codes / thank-you upsell / fraud instead. Walk them in that order. You already pay for Shopify Plus. You do not need another checkout SaaS to list Scripts and ship Functions.
02
Inventory every live Line Item, Shipping, and Payment Script.
Open Apps → Script Editor (legacy) on the Plus shop. For each script note: type (Line Item / Shipping / Payment), published vs draft, what it changes (tiered discounts, gift-with-purchase, hide shipping rates, rename gateways, BOGO), and last edited date. Export or copy the Ruby source into a ticket so you can map behavior without guessing after Scripts are gone.
Honest proof: place a test order that exercises each live Script (e.g. BOGO cart, restricted shipping country, payment gateway rename). Screenshot cart / shipping / payment before migration. If Script Editor is empty but checkout still “does Script things,” you may already be on Functions — switch to Functions discount not applying instead of reinventing Scripts.
03
Map each Script to a Function extension and publish on Plus checkout.
Rough mapping most Plus shops need: Line Item Script discounts / cart transforms → product-discount / order-discount / cart transform Functions. Shipping Script hide/rename/reprice rates → delivery customization / shipping-discount Functions. Payment Script hide/rename gateways → payment customization Function. Build or install an app that exposes those extensions, deploy to the live shop (not only a development store), and confirm the Function is active under Settings → Checkout / Apps.
Honest proof: for one mapped behavior, compare pre-migration and post-migration checkout screenshots on the same cart. If the Function is published in the partner dashboard but missing on the live shop, install it — draft partner builds do not migrate Scripts. Combination / eligibility issues on an already-migrated automatic discount are Functions discount not applying, not this migration page.
04
Prove checkout parity before turning Scripts off.
Run the same carts you inventoried: gift-with-purchase, tiered discount, shipping restriction, payment rename. Only after Functions match Scripts for those carts should you unpublish Scripts. Leaving Scripts and Functions both active can double discounts or fight over shipping / payment presentation.
Honest proof: a short checklist with pass/fail per Script → Function pair, signed by whoever owns checkout. Typed discount codes that still reject after migration are discount-code-not-applying. Thank-you / order status additional scripts are thank-you-page-upsell-broken. Fraud holds on paid orders stay on Fraud analysis false positives. Keep those separate from Scripts → Functions parity.
05
You tested Functions discount, typed codes, thank-you upsell, or fraud instead.
Automatic Functions discounts that never apply are Functions discount not applying. Typed codes rejecting are discount-code-not-applying. Post-purchase upsell / additional scripts not loading are thank-you-page-upsell-broken. High-risk false positives canceling good orders are Fraud analysis false positives. None of those replace inventoring deprecated Scripts and publishing replacement Functions on Plus checkout.
Finish the Scripts → Functions migration proofs first. Only then open the related playbook that matches the remaining symptom.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: inventory Line Item / Shipping / Payment Scripts, map each to a Function extension, publish on the live Plus shop, prove parity, unpublish Scripts, and stop confusing Functions discount bugs / typed codes / thank-you upsell / fraud with this migration. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Pay for help when the work is not Script Editor — it is connecting the stack you already have so lead capture is not dying in DMs, checkout and ops exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops’ public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever Scripts compatibility guarantee, a custom Function app retainer, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
