Playbook · Shopify Featured collection blank
The Shopify Featured collection is blank or empty.
Written for a Shopify DTC owner whose Featured collection section shows no product cards on the live storefront. Hold one section and one collection constant: prove the published theme, collection handle, product availability, market, and filters before changing code. This is not a global search failure, collection-rule mismatch, or collection banner image bug. No earnings claims.

01
First, name the missing surface.
This page is for a Featured collection section that is present but empty, hidden, or missing its product cards on the live store. A whole collection with the wrong members belongs in collection rules; a product search drawer with no results belongs in predictive search blank; a hero image that is absent belongs in collection banner.
Capture the exact URL, section heading, collection handle, device, country or Market, theme name, and whether the section chrome appears. If another collection section renders cards, this is likely a data, assignment, or filter path rather than a global storefront failure.
02
Prove the published section and handle, not only the editor preview.
Open Online Store → Themes and select the published theme. In the homepage or template editor, open the exact Featured collection section and record its collection setting, product limit, layout, filters, dynamic source, and visibility conditions. Preview is not proof: a draft theme or preview query can read data the live page does not.
- Section missing on live but present in preview usually means the wrong theme, template, market, or publish state.
- Section heading visible but no cards usually means empty assignment, unavailable products, a filter, or a rendering error.
- Cards visible on desktop but empty on phone points to breakpoint visibility, lazy loading, or a theme script.
- One collection empty while another works points to handle-level data or availability.
03
Check the collection, product channel, market, and filters in that order.
Open the assigned collection in admin and confirm it has the expected products. Each product should be Active, published to Online Store, available in the visitor’s Market, and eligible for the collection’s inventory or tag conditions. For a manual collection, confirm the intended products were added. For an automated collection, compare the rule inputs to the product fields actually saved.
Temporarily remove one suspected filter or dynamic source and test in a clean browser. Inspect the live HTML and Network panel: no card request or section data points to theme logic; card data present but hidden points to CSS or visibility; a failed request points to an app or storefront API problem. Do not edit product data broadly until one controlled test identifies the gate.
04
Repair the smallest live path, then retest edge cases.
Assign the correct collection to the published section, restore a valid product limit, remove the filter that excludes every item, or repair the dynamic source the evidence identifies. Publish the smallest theme change. Avoid swapping in a different collection just to make the block look populated: that hides the original handle or availability problem.
Retest the same URL on desktop and phone, in a clean browser, after consent, and in a second Market. Confirm product title, image, price, card link, collection link, structured data, and canonical URL. Save the before/after evidence and restore any temporary filter test.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if one Featured collection section needs one assignment or filter correction. Prove the live template, fix the smallest gate, publish, and retest. No agency required and no conversion or revenue guarantee is implied.
Pay $997 one-time when the work is wiring the live Shopify stack you already use: lead capture, ops alerts, and a checkout-ready workflow. Nico at Latch AI Ops installs it on one live store in 72 hours after collaborator access is in. You are buying the install, not more orders or an earnings claim.
