Playbook · Shopify breadcrumb wrong
Crumbs show. The path is wrong.
Written for a Shopify owner whose storefront breadcrumb trail mounts with Home / Collection / Product chrome visible but the path, labels, or links are wrong — wrong collection parent, missing Home, stale product title, dead crumb hrefs, Markets locale crumbs mismatched to the URL — or you chased BreadcrumbList JSON-LD, Search & Discovery filters, or smart collection rules instead. DIY-first: prove crumb source → repair parent → retest. Distinct from breadcrumb schema missing. Soft-link Search & Discovery filters broken when filters are the leftover gap. Soft-link collection rules not matching when membership is wrong. No earnings claims, no invented case studies.

01
Visible breadcrumb wrong — not BreadcrumbList schema missing, not filters, not collection rules.
Several “navigation path” bugs look alike. They do not share a fix. This page is only when the storefront breadcrumb trail mounts and the visible path, labels, or hrefs are wrong — wrong parent collection, missing Home, stale title, dead link, Markets locale mismatch. Missing or invalid BreadcrumbList JSON-LD alone (view-source / Rich Results) is shopify-breadcrumb-schema-missing.
Soft-check shopify-search-and-discovery-filters-broken when collection / storefront filters are empty or broken (not when crumbs alone are wrong), and shopify-collection-rules-not-matching when products fail smart-collection membership (crumbs can still be fine). Soft-check shopify-canonical-url-wrong when the leftover gap is canonical / duplicate URL, not the visible trail.
02
Prove theme collection.parent vs SEO-app crumb vs Markets locale.
Open a live PDP and a nested collection on a real phone (or DevTools mobile width). Soft-check crumbs exist — if there is no trail chrome at all, this may be a theme section removed (still not BreadcrumbList-only). Soft-check Customize → product / collection templates for a breadcrumb section using collection.parent, a hard-coded menu, or a metafield. Soft-check Admin → Collections for the product's primary collection and parent hierarchy. Soft-check Theme settings → App embeds for SEO / breadcrumb apps stacking a second trail. Soft-check Markets / Translate & Adapt where crumb labels stay English on a localized URL (or vice versa). Soft-check view-source BreadcrumbList only when the visible trail is already correct — that is shopify-breadcrumb-schema-missing.
Capture: wrong label text, wrong href targets, whether Home is missing, which collection parent Admin shows vs the crumb, and which apps are on Current.
03
Repair parent collection / crumb source; retest.
Set the correct parent collection (or breadcrumb metafield) for products that jump to the wrong shelf. Keep one crumb source on Current — theme breadcrumb section or SEO-app trail, not both fighting. Fix Translate & Adapt / Markets strings for crumb labels. Remove a hard-coded menu trail that ignores collection.parent. Publish Current theme, hard-refresh, walk 3–5 PDPs and nested collections (including bestsellers and multi-collection SKUs) on mobile and desktop.
Honest retest: crumbs still mount; labels match Home → parent → product; hrefs land on the live path. Soft-link shopify-breadcrumb-schema-missing when the visible trail is fixed but JSON-LD is still missing. Soft-link shopify-search-and-discovery-filters-broken when filters are the leftover gap. Soft-link shopify-collection-rules-not-matching when products still fail smart-collection membership.
04
You tested BreadcrumbList schema, filters, or collection rules instead.
BreadcrumbList JSON-LD missing or wrong in view-source / Rich Results (visible crumbs may be fine) is shopify-breadcrumb-schema-missing. Collection / storefront filters broken is shopify-search-and-discovery-filters-broken. Smart collection rules not matching products is shopify-collection-rules-not-matching. Canonical / duplicate URL wrong is shopify-canonical-url-wrong.
The only honest test for this page: breadcrumb chrome mounts, and at least one label or href is wrong vs the live navigation path. Anything else is a different product.

When to stay DIY vs pay $997.
Stay DIY if you can spend one afternoon on the list above: prove theme collection.parent vs SEO-app crumb vs Markets, repair, retest. That is the whole playbook. No agency required. Short answers also live on the merchant FAQ. Related pages: breadcrumb schema missing, Search & Discovery filters broken, collection rules not matching.
Pay for help when the work is not the crumb trail itself — it is connecting the stack you already have so storefront / navigation / breadcrumb exceptions land in a channel you already check, and the live store is one workflow instead of a spreadsheet plus a Slack bot you forgot. That is the Latch AI Ops install.
What $997 USD one-time buys: lead capture on the live store, ops alerts in a channel you already check, and a checkout-ready workflow. 72 hours after collaborator access, not after payment. One live Shopify store. Access plus a delivery thread. Store URL collected at checkout. Not a SaaS seat, not a theme rebuild retainer, not a conversion guarantee, not a brand or theme job.
Other shops' public ranges, not testimonials: a checkout / ops install typically runs $500–$2,500. A full ops consulting block typically runs $2,000–$5,000. $997 is the cheap end of that work, sold as a 72-hour install of three systems — not as an earnings number or conversion-lift claim.
What it does not buy: more orders, recovered revenue, a forever breadcrumb guarantee, or a case study. Latch AI Ops has not published customer proof because there are no customers yet. You are buying the install.
Checkout is on Whop. Operator is Nico. United States offer. You can revoke collaborator access after handoff. We do not take owner passwords.
