DIY-first: prove the abandoned checkout exists; turn on Settings → Checkout abandoned emails; publish the Abandoned checkout automation; fix delay, recovery link, spam, and already-ordered suppression. Distinct from customer events pixels broken, analytics not matching GA4, Flow trigger not firing, and webhooks not delivering. No earnings claims, no recovered-revenue math, no invented case studies.

Native abandoned checkout / marketing automation not sending — not customer events pixels, GA4 analytics, Flow triggers, or webhooks.
Several “checkout recovery / tracking looks wrong” bugs look alike. They do not share one fix. This page is only when a buyer abandons checkout with an email and Shopify never sends the native abandoned checkout email or the Shopify Email / Marketing automation recovered-cart message. When customer events / custom pixels / Web Pixels API do not fire, open customer events pixels broken. When admin analytics / reports do not match GA4 purchase data, open analytics not matching GA4. When Apps → Flow never starts a run on Order created / Order paid / Inventory quantity changed, open Flow trigger not firing. When app webhook deliveries fail HMAC / HTTPS / retries, open webhooks not delivering. A broader Shopify Email or Klaviyo abandon-send walkthrough also lives at abandoned checkout email not sending (Shopify Email or Klaviyo). This page is only: Shopify native abandoned checkout emails / marketing automations not sending recovered carts.
Six ordinary reasons the recovered-cart mail never leaves: Settings → Checkout abandoned checkout emails still off; the Abandoned checkout marketing automation is Draft or paused; delay is longer than your test window; recovery link / checkout token expired or broken; buyer already completed an order (or you tested with a staff/admin session); spam / Promotions / Shopify Email domain authentication ate the send. Walk them in that order. You already pay for Shopify. You do not need another recovery SaaS to prove the native email or marketing automation sends again.
02
Prove an abandoned checkout exists while no recovered-cart email went out.
Use a non-staff personal inbox. Add to cart → checkout → enter email (and shipping if required) → leave before payment. Wait past the automation delay (often 1–10 hours). In Admin, confirm an abandoned checkout appears (Orders → Abandoned checkouts, or Analytics). Open Settings → Checkout and note whether abandoned checkout emails are enabled. Open Marketing → Automations (or Shopify Email automations) and note Abandoned checkout Live vs Draft. Check the buyer inbox including spam and Promotions.
If pixels / checkout events never fire in the browser, leave for customer events pixels broken. If the complaint is only that Shopify reports and GA4 disagree, open analytics not matching GA4. If a Flow workflow never runs on order/inventory events, open Flow trigger not firing. Stay here only while abandoned checkouts exist and the native / marketing recovered-cart email still does not send.
03
Repair native toggle, automation Live status, delay, recovery link, and suppression.
Turn on Settings → Checkout → Abandoned checkout emails if it is off. Publish the Abandoned checkout marketing automation so it is Live, not Draft. Shorten an unrealistic delay so you can retest the same day. Preview the recovery URL from a real abandoned checkout — it must reopen the cart / checkout, not 404. Do not expect a send after the same email already placed an order, or after a staff/admin test session that Shopify suppresses.
If the automation shows Sent but the inbox is empty, check spam / Promotions and Shopify Email sending domain / authentication — see also Shopify Email going to spam. Soft note: Latch’s 72-hour install is ops wiring on the live store — not a recovered-revenue guarantee and not a Klaviyo rebuild product.
04
Checklist and how to prove the recovered-cart email sends again.
Checklist: (1) screenshot abandoned checkout in Admin with no email, (2) enable Settings → Checkout abandoned emails, (3) publish Abandoned checkout marketing automation Live, (4) set a testable delay, (5) prove recovery link opens checkout, (6) retest with a fresh non-staff inbox, (7) check spam/Promotions and sending domain, (8) if pixels never fire or GA4/Flow/webhooks are the real symptom, switch playbooks.
Prove it: after the fix, a new abandoned checkout must create a send (or clear automation activity), the recovery link must open the cart, and the buyer inbox must receive the message (or a documented spam landing). If customer events still never fire, open customer events pixels broken. If only admin vs GA4 numbers disagree, open analytics not matching GA4.
05
You tested customer events pixels, analytics vs GA4, Flow triggers, or webhooks instead.
Customer events / custom pixels not firing is customer events pixels broken. Shopify admin analytics not matching GA4 is analytics not matching GA4. Flow Order created / Order paid / Inventory trigger silence is Flow trigger not firing. App webhook delivery failures are webhooks not delivering. None of those fix a native abandoned checkout email or marketing automation that never sends a recovered-cart message.
Finish prove abandoned checkout → repair toggle / Live automation / delay / recovery link / spam → inbox proof first. Only then open the related playbook that matches the remaining symptom.
